Alfredo di Stefano has been chosen to be the first inductee in the newly created FIFA Hall of fame, located in Pachuca, Mexico. The legendary Madridista received the news when he was with former Real Madrid player Hugo Sanchez. Don Alfredo's glorious career included 5 European Cup titles and 8 league championships won with Real Madrid. He also won the Ballon d'Or twice.

"I am very happy for this and I am very grateful for the gesture, even though you are nothing individually in football," said Di Stefano, "This is a collective sport and no one is better than the rest. You must have a good team in order to achieve things."

An absolute legend of the game, can not think of anyone better to be the first inductee.

One of my absolute favourite players of all time, he covered so much ground playing a game, it wouldn't be uncommon to see him playing the last line of defence one minute then the next scoring a goal or creating one.

Such heart and passion for the game in one man made him on of the first true world wide superstars of the game.

So richly deserved Saeta Rubia

They say the Bernabeu tilts to the left a bit because that was where Don Alfredo played most of the time.

The first superstar of the game.He and the legendary Real Madrid team of the late 50's made the CL what it is today,the premier football competition in the world.
Richly deserved La Saeta Rubia.

Well, seeing as most of us never watched him regularly, I dont really think we can comment too much. But definately one of the greatest players ever by all accounts.
