Hmm, picking a favorite 11 is mostly going to be out of Liverpool.



Reina - One of, if not the best goal keeper we have had. His great personality always seems to shine through the dressing room as is noticeable from all his mentions by others in interviews. Every time I watch certain highlights, I'm always left amazed at some of the saves he pulled off. His loyalty is another thing that I've admired.

Carra - Red put it best by saying he is the soul of the club. The day he retires will be a sad one. I always feel he deserves just a wee bit more recognition for the work he has done.

Hyypia - I wasn't fully aware of all the transfers, etc. of clubs around the time he came in. All I cared about was watching Liverpool. Needless to say, he served the club for a decade with impeccable service. His final game at Anfield and his reception were heart breaking.

Riise - Probably the first full back in my time of watching the game to really catch my attention. Absolutely loved the guy. May have not been the best defender, but he was good attacking and had one of the most tremendous shots. (Release the Kraken....)

Lucas - I only have a recollection of of Red and me ever supporting this guy on the first forums. Perhaps the amount of hate he got led me sympathize with him. But then again, I've always tried to watch every player and look at how they contribute towards the team. He is one of the utmost professionals. He has a proper footballer's story. Nothing great when he arrived, was attacked from every direction, worked his ass off and sealed a position in the first team. An unappreciated role, but most Liverpool fans respect and acknowledge what he adds to the team now.

Gerrard - Captain Fantastic. My favorite player.

Alonso - Barely knew a thing about him when he first joined Pool, but by the end of his run with us, every supporter knew just how good a player he was. That passing range was just ridiculous.

Kenny - King Kenny. Obviously not old enough to have watched him live, but the highlights I've seen always amaze me. Watching him play has always made me wish I was alive to watch those games live. And he hasn't had a terrible managing career either.

Owen - Probably a little unexpected, but he played at a time I was supporting the team and I cannot even begin to recount some of the important goals he has scored for us. Smart player that has scored some of the best goals ever. I remember exactly where I was when I watched the league cup final against United and he scored.

Fowler - GOD! My favorite striker ever. I've watched a lot of highlights of him from his prime and my god was he brilliant. His celebration versus Everton (sniffing the line) was hilarious. Watching him return to Anfield was one the highlights of my being a supporter.

Of the players I've watched:


Very Roma-biased of course. Buffon, one of the greatest keepers of all time. Maldini, put him as a CB just so I could fit in Riise, a player for whom I have a great amount of respect. Panucci, won everything possible at club level, great defender. Mexes wore his heart on his sleeve everytime he put on the Roma jersey. Tommasi and Perrotta, two extremely hard workers, very underrated players. Totti, no explanation needed. Batistuta, an absolute beast, and Montella, deadly in front of goal.

And every team needs a coach. Hard to choose, but it would be between Zdenek Zeman and Luciano Spalletti's attacking tactics along with Carlo Mazzone's impulsive nature. Maybe a bit of Lippi and Cappello in there too.
