He played in the Europa League qualifiers with Atletico. He can play in the second half of the competition. Never heard of that rule myself, I thought he would be barred for the whole competition.

There's a rule that says that only a maximum of one player of a club is allowed to have played a Europa League match. Not too sure though.

But he'll only miss the group stages.

Since Atletico qualified,he is cup tied.

"Diego Forlan cannot play for Inter in the first stage of the Champions League and he has postponed his debut to February when, as long as they qualify, the Nerazzurri will be in the sudden-death knockout phase. The announcement was made by the club, explaining the reasons behind this. The Uruguayan striker is not eligible to be picked for the first stage as he played for Atletico Madrid in the Europa League third qualifying phase against Norwegian side Stromsgodset on 28 July and 4 August and is therefore cup-tied. Atletico went on to qualify for the group stage by beating Vitoria Guimaraes from Portugal on 18 August and 25 August."

The rule should be limited to Champions League. Europa League players shouldn't have their move affected if they join a Champions League club.

this doesn't matter. inter should qualify for the knock-outs and then forlan can bring his magic there and do milito-season and lead inter to champions league glory. this might be good for inter
