Valdano: Barcelona and Real may abandon the domestic league at some point
"In the future Madrid and Barcelona will have to look to teams that are going at the same speed, and that will lead to a European league," he told Cadena Ser radio.
"Before I defended Real Madrid's interests but now I see things from a different perspective," the former Real and Argentina player added.
"The gap between the big two and the rest is getting ever larger. If you look to the future you have the feeling that it will only get worse.
"Two teams which have the rest of the world as their market and the others only their local community.
"There will come a time when that won't be convenient for the two big clubs either."

Re: Valdano: Barcelona and Real may abandon the domestic league at some point
This is not an isolated incident. Fact is, all big leagues have monopolies on success. But the EPL's marketability attracts bored billionaires into investing on poor football club. And in Serie A, the big teams are simply not rich or strong enough to storm the league and hence we get an illusion of competition.
The EPL's situation is unsustainable.
The Bundesliga is where sustainable future waits. The other leagues should learn from that.

Rapists dont decide to leave the scene. They flee the scene. These 2 have raped La Liga now they are thinking of fleeing the league.
Wholl take them? Theyd love to be associated with the EPL money pit but theres no way wed let them in, never mind try to pillage the league.
Italy? Their structure isnt good enough.
They could force a super lge but theres no way EPL clubs would leave our lge, German clubs neither. Money wise, stability, prestige..weve never had it so good. That leaves what?...
Madrid
Barca
Inter
AC
Juve
...
...
Porto?
That would get very old, very quickly.
EPL would be bigger imo, the Superman to Captain America.

Re: Valdano: Barcelona and Real may abandon the domestic league at some point
Yeah youre right
super league is da bomb yo. in no way will the players eventually migrate to the top 2 odd and basically get what we have now.
La Liga early 2000, Italy mid 90s. all had many top teams..look at the strength now!! in no way have the top teams in any lge pulled away from other, equally, top sides!!!
What will happen is the CL will become worthless. The EPL will break away as a whole and become the elite competition since following FIFA rules and guidelines would be meaningless.
Wed have the history, the money and popularity to still grow. never mind it potentially becoming a billionaire playground.
Super lge? Whats a super lge without EPL clubs? Fans outside those clubs wouldnt watch. Thered be no excitement. Utd v City etc would have potentially better squads than all but Barca. Where would that leave the whole concept? It would be join the top 2 or move to england lol

This economic crisis have ruined football too. Or we eliminate the Bosman law, or we made every single competition like the NBA, or I dont know. By the way, England still have a great league, but Spain and Italy really sucks.

Cyber is being ignorant on economic trends. The EPL whole competition scheme is focused on attracting billionaires who are bored enough to invest into no history clubs like Chelsea, City, and even Blackburn. The fact that those three spend more than they make is not a sustainable model.
Your claim that the EPL would be superior than the CL is laughable at best.
Fact is; outside of United, Arsenal, and Liverpool. The other teams do not have any huge fan-base (with Chelsea's fan-base being the most rapidly increasing) to attract viewers who are not interested on those three (four) clubs.
Fact is; the Chinese market which is the largest market in the world is rapidly inclining towards Serie A and La Liga.
Fact is; you continue to claim La Liga is a two horse race while in the last 10 years, only 3 different EPL teams ever won the league, compared with La Liga's 3 and Serie A's four.
Fact is; you have premier league propaganda so far shoved into your brain that you fail to realize that this is not an isolated economic trend. A trend that is affecting all the big three clubs and not only La Liga.
You can live in your dream world where EPL is doing great, but that is not true. If so, City would not have needed a bloody tyrant to pump major money into their vaults just so that they can compete. Hell, the reason Chelsea's project did not take long to succeed was not the intelligence of Mourinho or Chelsea, but the then weakness of Arsenal and united, who both at the end of a phase.

Re: Valdano: Barcelona and Real may abandon the domestic league at some point
If this were to happen, it would be like the eu. England will initially distance itself from the concept, but over time, they'll join and become more involved as the concept becomes bigger. And remember, madrid was there when the european cup was conceptualized... can you imagine european football without the cl?
