Re: Ronaldinho styling
Messi still has a long way to go before he can be as great as Ronaldinho. Amazing how today's fanboys have forgotten about him.

Re: Ronaldinho styling
FFS, this thread is about Ronaldinho not Messi. Messi has surpassed Ronnie's greatness for me but for the doubters he is only 24 and will be comfortably better than him at the end of his career.

Re: Ronaldinho styling
Ronaldinho was in his prime between the ages of 23-27. We'll see how Messi sustains it once he hits 27... That's around the age where a lot of these super technical players start slowing down.

Re: Ronaldinho styling
The plan is for him to start dropping further back to a CM role when he starts getting physically slower around 30ishsportsczy wrote:Ronaldinho was in his prime between the ages of 23-27. It's not the position on the field that makes the difference... it's not being to beat their man at will and the individual style of play. Most of the great AMs cannot adapt to not having defenders at their mercy. Platini and Maradona were pretty much done at the age of 30. Kaka, due to injuries, at 28. Ronaldinho at 27. etc.
Only Zidane maintained his level well past 30 for a super technical player (36 yo in 2006). Just depends if Messi is really taking care of his body obsessively and avoids injury (smoking will kill his career prematurely). Platini, Maradona and Ronaldinho were into living life and playing football.

Re: Ronaldinho styling
I was kidding... oh so defensive. though if I were not kidding, I would still say Ronaldinho was better back then than Messi is in his current prime.
Ronaldinho was magic, everyone delighted in his abilities, standing ovations wherever he went. Messi is a horse-fly, annoying, will pester us for years to come.
The greatest difference between them, Ronaldinho just played for the love of the game and as a result his style was majestic. Messi is more like a well oiled machine, I see no emotion in him, no passion.
PS. If you didn't want the thread to be derailed, you should have provided a better topic. I watched the video, thought Ronnie was still BOSS and then had nothing further to say on the matter
