He was a "one man engine room" according to Lippi. I remember how disappointed he seemed after Juventus lost the Champions League final to AC Milan in 2003. I was actually rooting for Juventus. He really wasn't the same after that and I think he left Juventus after 6 years there the next year.

Yeah he left at the end of 2004 I think. Which wasn't a great year for us anyway, Lippi also left and we had the era of Capello.

Personally a era I despised in it's entirety.

We've not had as good a centremidfielder since Crying or Very sad
