Re: Its official
I personally dont think its a good idea to say which youngsters have more potential/will be better then others, its a risky game and you dont really know how kids turn out. Apperently Pedro was supposed to be out of the club by now and Gai Assulin the next Messi...looked how that panned out.
Nothing wrong with saying which youngsters at doing better right now, as sujective as that is, but I dont know about which youngsters will be better in X amount of years from now.

Still a possibility, mind you but I don't see it happening.
Xavi really proves that big things come in small packages.

So you also think he'll be better than Xavi, then?

No way to tell, although imo Xavi has raised his game later in his career. That said currently there is no way to tell who will be better, other than time
I personally prefer watching Fabregas more though as he is a more attacking player, but that's just me and not ability/skill/talent.

Re: Its official
Its easier to judge youngsters at Utd because they joined and played when they dont need to play.
Its different from selling Cesc and fooling yourself that Ramsey / Frimpong can step up.
Smalling is a superstar, he was a no brainer.
Take Jones for example. We had 4 CBs and Veranne tied up to come. Jones became available, ditched Veranne and spent 16m on a 19yo CB.
Sir Alex says it wasnt due to defensive weakness, he was too good to turn dow. That tells you hes an incredible talent.
Welbeck played really well for Sunderland last year until his injury. He has the signing and top scorer from last year both on the bench yet Danny plays. He doesnt have to but his link up play and Rooney partnership demands him to.
Cleverley is just exactly what we need.

A sound argument.
Yes indeed, time will tell who is and who isn't. I also like Fabregas style better though I feel at Barca he will add a new dimension to his game.
I'm sure he'll learn how to pause as he will need to do so to adapt to Barca's indirect game.

Re: Its official
This youngster debate becomes moot when you consider the da Silvas are 21, Anderson is 22 (?) and Nani 24. They are still improving each season themselves. Is a 19 yo midfielder really considered a different generation in footballing terms?
Its ridiculous that a team with an average age of 19 could claim they have better youngsters than a better team with an average age of 23.

Re: Its official
Pogba is one of the most promising players I have seen, more so than anything I have noticed at Arsenal anyway.
You may laugh but I honestly believe it.

Re: Its official
I don't see why a comparison of youth academies has to be done so many times.
Why can't it be agreed that both youth academies provide and churn out superb talent who can each be the future for their respective national team and clubs
Arsenal, with Wilshere, Frimpong, Lansbury, Coquelin, Ramsey, Miquel, Djorou, Bartley, Watt, Vela and of course taking in an nurturing players like Cambell, Ryo, Chamberlain, etc.
Then we have United who are equally as impressive:
Cleverley, Pogba, Welbeck, Morrison, the Brazilian twins, Tuncliffe, Norwood, Macheda, Brady, James and bring in and nurturing guys like Jones, Smalling, and Nani.
I don't have to go on about Arsenal's squad as the gooners here have made it clear on each of their players, but I don't feel United is getting enough recognition for theirs.
Pogba who is a black Scholes. Welbeck who truly seems like an exciting prospect after his recent exploits at sunderland and United, Macheda who seems to be a clutch player, Smalling who has proven himself well since being taken in from Fulham and then of course my favorite, Tom Cleverley who to me is like the next Demetrio Albertini.
United has really proven many wrong including me on there ability to churn out a new generation of talents. And although they still have much to prove, its not laughable to compare them to Arsenal's youth.
And why hasn't anyone mentioned Liverpools?

Liverpool indeed have brilliant youth, Flanagan, Robinson, Spearing, Sterling ( my favourite ), Henderson, Kelly, Coates, Jonjo
lol God damn
I noticed this :
lol the potential of Cleverly Welbeck Jones Smalling, De Gea > Wilshere, Ramsey, Szczesny, Frimpong, Gibbs
...really ? REALLY ? lol
