Let us dispel the myth of youngsters the Man Utd team was younger.

It's a fact that Wenger's first choice for midfield wasn't Arteta, but M'Vila, a 21 year old. We had interest in Hazard (21) and Goetze (19).
Wenger stayed true to who he is by signing kids like Campbell, chamberlain etc... a bit of a waste if you ask me
Chamberlain is obviously something special, everyone was after him , a price tag is not a reflection of a player's ability

Buys a LB = "not good enough"
Buys a CB = "too slow"
Buys a midfielder = "well, he's no Fabregas"
Buys a winger/striker = "only decent signing"
Buy a few promising youths = "wasted"
There's no pleasing the critics

Re: Its official
He's finally realised it failed and went to panic buying. Getting players like Benyaoun and Arteta are a step down from Nasri and Cesc. He knew these players were leaving, yet he left till the last day to get desperate signings. smh.
I think that beat down that United gave them on Sunday was perhaps a blessing in disguise, as it has forced Wenger to rethink about his 'youngster philosophy'. I expect Arsenal to make even more buys in the January transfer window.

Re: Its official
I love how all we used to hear about from Arsenal fans was how in a few years they were going to have an unstoppable team when in reality very few of the youngsters turned out to be any good. Remember Aliadiere, Hoyte, Upson, Larsson, Bendtner, Bentley, Sidwell, Pennant, Lansbury, Owusu-Abeyie e.t.c. were all supposed to turn out brilliant but none of them have/did. And despite having all these amazing talents at there disposal they have won nothing of note for 6 years!
Arsenal like to talk about how amazing there youth team is despite the fact they have only produced 2 world class players in recent memory and they are Ashley Cole and Cech Fabregas (You could argue Barca had something to do with Cech too). But both of them left while they were in there prime.
Meanwhile we hear very little about Man United's youth system despite the fact that it has produced Beckham, Scholes, Neville and Giggs. Even now the only Arsenal youngster that looks promising is Wilshere and even he is vastly overrated by the English media who are desperate for him to become the next big thing and England's saviour.
Face it Arsenal fans, you believed the hype and now you are faced with the reality and it doesn't look good.
