Re: The Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread
Haha, and now Modric is going to leave. Hope this doesn't spell out a short term for AVB with us
Sigurdsson is now a done deal.
Tottenham Seal Sigurdsson
I'm happy, he has been great with Swansea, this is a good signing for not too much money.

Haha, of course not. I'll admit I'd definitely up the amount I currently watch Real Madrid to see how Modric fares there (he would be amazing!) but I would still hate Madrid and nothing would do me better than to see even Modric cost Madrid a couple points by missing a sitter or something.
I mean, I quite liked RvN, even when he went to Madrid. Same situation. It sucks, but oh well.
As long as the Evil does badly, I'm a very happy man. Even if that involves Modric flopping.

Apparently AVB has like, 78 million euros at his disposal. Take away 10 for Sigurdsson, that's 68 million euros that can be used...

"I like him (Andre Villas-Boas) and the ideas he has," Sigurdsson told Icelandic website mbl.is.
"He has faith in me and I'm looking forward to working under his leadership.
"I enjoyed playing under Brendan and I am grateful for everything he has done for me, but after careful consideration I liked Spurs best.
"The team has world-class players in their ranks and they play good football, which I like.
"I was impressed with the club's plans for next season and the coming years. There is clearly great ambition at Tottenham and the club intends to do big things.
"It is a pleasure to see that Gareth Bale has signed a new contract. There are top players in the team and the club is getting a new training ground."

Re: The Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread
Saw that. It's great to see players inside of Tottenham also talking about the great ambitions that are currently in the works, makes it the absolute real deal.
Arsenal and Tottenham after Lloris
Arsenal and Tottenham have both been linked with moves for Olympique Lyon and French national team captain, Hugo Lloris. The talented 25-year-old has been making a name for himself since sealing the top spot for French club Nice at only 19 years of age.
His move to Lyon in 2008-09 saw him catapulted into the top of France’s elite and he did not disappoint. That same season saw him make his international debut for France as he would go on to win the first of three Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year and Team of the Year awards.
After four seasons with Lyon and having only lifted a single trophy, the 2011-12 Coupe de France, the player is requesting that he be allowed to take a major move to one of Europe’s elite if an offer comes in according to club president, Jean-Michel Aulas as quoted by the Daily Mail:
A certain number of players were not good enough last season and will leave or at least be placed on the transfer list.
Hugo told me he would like to leave if an offer comes in from one of the biggest five clubs in Europe.
If one of these clubs makes an offer that matches his market value, in other words £16 million then he can go.
If there is no offer before July 15 he will remain at the club for the coming season.
For the moment there has been no offer from Arsenal or anywhere else.
Arsenal has a better solution at the back than Tottenham as Wojciech Szczesny still have plenty of time to mature. Meanwhile Andre Villas-Boas is saddled with ancient 41-year-old keeper Brad Friedel who should be moved to a backup in the long run.
A North London rivalry of the signature of Lloris is also certain to create an even more tense set of match’s this coming season if the Frenchman joins either side.
--> I am skeptical Lloris would come to Tottenham, given the nature of the club that Lloris is looking to join...but do you guys think that he would be worth the 16 million pounds? I definitely think so. He's only 25 and would put our goalkeeper situation to rest for the next decade at least (given we didn't sell him in that time).

In regards to Lloris i think it would definitely be worth the 16mil, spurs haven't had a solid keeper in awhile and it would be great to have one who will be around for the next few seasons. Friedel would make a good back up and then gomes can be sold

Tottenham Thread: How will AVB go?
Don't know whether there is a Tottenham thread though Im interested in how AVB does with Spurs. He is known to build up youth and use a high defensive line. Hopefully in his eyes, Modric will stay and hopefully Gallas and VDV will keep their cool otherwise their futures will be definately uncertain. They have bought Gylfi Sigurosson from Hoffenheim. Don't know much about him tbh so I can't comment.
Hopefully for Spurs, Vertonghen, Adebayor, a midfielder, a young defender and a winger, Spurs may do well.

Re: The Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread
Tottenham defender Steven Caulker has committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term contract until 2016.
I think he should of stayed at Swansea maybe for another year. Spurs already have Kaboul and Vertonghen will probably sign.

Pherhaps they are preparing for the season without Vertoghen, Kaboul-Gallas/Dawson in defence and Caulker on the bench. He will make a great defender eventually

Re: The Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread
Speaking about defense, this is my opinion.
With AVB coming in and his dressing room...controlling ability well known, I wouldn't like to see Gallas here, or if he is here, I want him on the bench most of the season. Ideally we need to get Vertonghen, or if not, I'd like another defender.
King is...well, he's King. You can rely on the player when he's fit but that's not most of the time. Gallas is old and IMO he sucks (got flipped inside out by an aging Drogba in FA Cup last year), and then I'd like Caulker on the bench, he will indeed be great eventually but right now we need him as a back up, and starting him is a risky move, he's only 20 yet.
If we get Vertonghen then we can have Vertonghen-Kaboul/Dawson with backups being Caulker and Bassong. I'd like to get rid of Gallas. King I'd like to stay but there are question marks over him retiring.
IMO not getting Vertonghen would be an absolute travesty, and leaves us in a vulnerable condition at the back, especially since Dawson is also injury prone. So we either snatch Vertonghen or get a replacement for a while

Oscar and Damiao:
"Tottenham did contact my agent, but I am focusing on Internacional," Oscar told iG.
Oscar added he is not sure if Tottenham made an official offer and that he is not getting carried away by the move rumours.
That [interest will always happen. I don't know if there was an official offer," Oscar told UOL.
"But for those that are young and impress a bit, this is normal. I can't worry about this. I'm not thinking about leaving Internacional now".
Long-term Spurs target Leandro Damiao also rejected rumours linking him with a possible switch to White Hart Lane.
The striker claims he is happy at Internacional and plans to stay at the club until 2014.
"I am thinking only of Internacional, I don't think I'm leaving [Internacional], I've received no offers," said Damiao.
"If it's up to me, I'll stay until 2014"..

As Arry Redknapp used to say, Scottys a top lad!
Also why do we have very few links with any quality strikers? Its the position we need to fix most and there has been extremely little on it

Sounds strange, Adebayor has said pretty clearly that he doesn't want to take a wage cut and no way Spurs will pay him £170k a week.

Yeah just saw this, I have hard time believing Spurs will pay that and in all honesty I don't think they will. That would be crazy. He must be taking a pay cut if this is going through.
