Tottenham Hotspur title watch
All Spurs related discussion here
What are Spurs' expectations for this season ?
Brand new stadium, kept key players, humiliating teams like Man United at their own home ground. Are they ready to take that next step in their progress and challenge for major trophies ?
9 out of 9 points. Can they challenge for the league this year ?

Re: Tottenham Hotspur title watch
Plenty of excuses imo. Only team to not make a signing. About go go on like a 4 stretch away game feature because they couldn't finish the stadium in time.
Anyways 9 points sounds about right for the opposition they've faced so far. The real test will be Liverpool (although Watford next have been a surprise of the season).

Would be good to see, since its rare today for elite teams to keep their team pretty much without buying big stars every season. Didnt think they would be able to maintain let along keep improving like this without splashing the cash like the rest.

Re: Tottenham Hotspur title watch
I'd have rated them as favorite if they signed some player ( I've never seen a club winning with Zero signings ) , I wrote it on Top 4 predictions..
Basically why I think to be one of few to think that City is not going to win again .. So or they or lLiverpool

I think Spurs (along with Chelsea) has been underrated. Both having a strong start too.

Korea will face Japan in the Asian Games final
if Korea win then Son will get special exemption from National Military duty, if not Spurs are gonna lose him for 2 years

Re: Tottenham Hotspur title watch
They should be top of the league. Lost a 3 goal lead to west ham and gave up a silly goal to Newcastle. Those 4 points would make them top.
The fact that they did give up those points also show why they won't challenge the league tho.

League is so tight you could do that with half the teams.
If Chelsea didn't give up the third goal to Southampton, and got the Pen against Utd, they'd be top. Etc.

Not every team has given up a 3-0 lead in the last 10 mins of the match tho
Let's agree that was extraordinarily spursy

Re: Tottenham Hotspur title watch
Newcastle handling call was also the straw that broke the camels back on the rule emphasis on handling, no?
Regardless, I think they can challenge. The only reason I say that is because City look like shit and Liverpool look not much better. Chelsea can't stop shipping goals. Man U lost 6-1 to Tottenham lmao, they're not doing anything, and Arsenal under Arteta look like they don't want to lose but also don't want to win.
They can challenge because everyone is trash, and because the narrative of Bale coming back and leading Spurs to a title is written

From a squad depth perspective Spurs has never had a better team in the last 30 years. And it's likely that depth will be very important this year especially.
But still think their limit is top 3. Hope I'm wrong.

The midfield looks better than it has been since that one season of healthy Wanyama-Dembele. The fact that Spurs wasted years with Eriksen healthy and thriving with Winks-Sissoko has to be the biggest regret at the club.
The outside backs are as good or close to as good as Walker-Rose in their best season. The striking partnership (Son-Kane) is the best they've ever had. You're definitely right, although I think CB's are a big liability. Having to pair Alderweireld with either Davinson or Dier is tragic, and easily the biggest weakness in the team.

Messiah coming on and leading them from 3-0 win to a 3-3 draw is what is written right now.
Son and Kane have been doing this since ages, nothing new. Lets see how the rest of the Spurs players contribute because those two alone can get you just about a CL place at the very best.
6 games in, can't say much considering Villa can be 1st depending on a game so I'll hold my horses.

Can say the same for Liverpool losing 7-2 to Villa and still being joint top having played most of the upcomers. Leeds, Arsenal, Chelsea, Villa, Everton done in the first 6.
