Roma have Osvaldo deal

Report: Roma have Osvaldo deal
Reports in Spain insist Roma have already struck a €15m deal to sign striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo from Espanyol.
The 25-year-old Italian-Argentine has long been linked with a move to the Stadio Olimpico and negotiations intensified over the last few days.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, the Giallorossi will buy Osvaldo for €15m plus another €3m in sponsorship agreements.
He played football for Italy at Under-21 level and can be used as a centre-forward or a wide man in the trident attack.
An official announcement is expected on Monday or Tuesday.
If Osvaldo does arrive, then that increases the likelihood Marco Borriello will leave Roma
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So it looks like we're close to signing this guy...
So what's your thoughts lads..
Do you think he will do well..Where will he play ?
I've changed my tune.I'm happy that we'll get him as long as we sell Borriello. We can't have 2 players who are exactly the same..and one good point about this transfer is that Osvaldo is only 25 he has a good 5/6 years while Borriello is getting on...
I am however a bit concerned about his goalscoring record in Italy when he was at Fiorentina and Bologna but I'm sure playing alongside players like Totti,DDR,Bojan and Lamela that the this guy will get the goals ...

Re: Roma have Osvaldo deal
Well he was very young when he was in Italy, a lot of his appearances were as a substitute too. He was actually quite decisive with Fiorentina and the goals he scored were crucial in the their race for the Champions League. I'm sure he could do well for us too, but that transfer fee is worrying me.

Same here it is alot to pay for a player who has only had one great season with Espanyol but I'm sure Sabatini see's something in him that we don't,so we have to trust him..
I just hope we can ship Borriello of somewhere..We need to try and get back that 10 million we payed for him...By this we will also be getting rid of his hefty wage pack..

Re: Roma have Osvaldo deal
Still think his style is better suited for Spain, but I think it's more because Espanyol gave him time and chances to prove himself and he hasn't wasted them.
For me, he's arguably bigger risk than Bojan, Lamela and probably Casemiro.

He made it clear to me yesterday in a chat, I completely agree.

Re: Roma have Osvaldo deal
not happy with the money which we are spending on him but if we can recoup most of it by selling marco borriello and probably give this guy some game time which borriello did not get then its kool with me..
hope he can provide goals as well as score some.

Re: Roma have Osvaldo deal
It's now official, Osvaldo is a Roma player. Here are the financial details as given by the official Roma website:
- Starting transfer fee of 15 million euros.
- Bonuses:
1. 1 million euros for Champions League qualification from the 2011-2012 season to the 2015-2016 season.
2. 250 000 euros for every 25 games the player participates in, up to 1 million euros (after 100 games).
3. 250 000 euros for every 10 goals scored by the player, up to 500 000 euros (20 goals)
So the starting fee is 15 million euros, but could eventually increase up to 17.5 million euros.
Osvaldo signed a 5 year contract, during the which he will make 3.6 million euros for the 2011-2012 season, 3.76 million euros for the 2012-2013 season, 3.97 for the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 seasons and 4.47 million euros for the 2015-2016 season.

Re: Roma have Osvaldo deal
I can't see him flopping outright, but I don't think he'll scale the heights that he reached in Spain. He'd have to adapt quite a bit. We're gonna see what he's got in his locker this season, that's for sure.

Re: Roma have Osvaldo deal
Well actually he may, but it all depends on the strike. He's in top fitness condition, having trained the whole pre-season with Espanyol so he shouldn't need any rest.

I don't think anyone is gunna play this weekend, which for us may be a good thing. We could use an extra week in training.

I need it too man, but I'll be willing to suffer an extra week if it means 3 extra points.
