Sabella just announced the European contingent of the squad for the match against switzerland:
Sergio ROMERO (Sampdoria – Italy)
Defenders:
Daniel DIAZ (Getafe – Spain)

Hugo CAMPAGNARO (Napoli – Italy)

Federico FERNANDEZ (Napoli – Italy)

Pablo ZABALETA (Manchester City – England)

Luciano MONZÓN (Nice– France)

Ezequiel GARAY (Benfica – Portugal)

Marcos ROJO (Spartak Moscow – Russia)

Midfielders:
Angel DI MARIA (Real Madrid- Spain)

Javier MASCHERANO (Barcelona – Spain)
Fernando GAGO (Roma – Italy)

Erik LAMELA (Roma – Italy)

Maxi RODRIGUEZ (Liverpool – England)

José SOSA (Metalist – Ukraine)

Forwards:
Gonzalo HIGUAIN (Real Madrid – Spain)

Lionel MESSI (Barcelona – Spain)

Rodrigo PALACIO (Genoa – Italy)

Sergio AGÜERO (Manchester City – England)

Sosa  Rojo

Lamela

no Coloccini

My lineup would be

Campagnaro----Mascherano----Fernandez

-Zabaleta--Lamela-Gago-Di Maria- Clemente(hopefully he gets called)

--------------Messi---Pipa/Kun-------------

Sosa always being there frustrates the hell out of me. Lamela is not ready for the NT, but I'm not against his cap so at least the Italians won't try to get him instead. Completely agreed that Coloccini should be called up. Palacio got a call-up banana his form deserves it, but doesn't Li-Lo deserve it more? hmm Cata Diaz

Also, why are we not calling up our best midfielder? Is Banega injured?

Sosa is to Sabella as Keita is to Pep, its some sort of brotherly love

I think Lamela should be given a chance to link up with messi...if it works out it can be fap worthy

Either Banega is injured or Sabella thinks he's too inconsistent for the NT. Pastore I guess is getting the silent treatment again(though I heard his form isn't that good right now)

No man, Sosa was there with Maradona and with Batista, in spite of his lack of quality being so utterly impossible to miss. Some backdeal is going on there.

Anyways I just noticed Pastore isn't there, which I find odd given that he didn't call up any other AMs. (I suppose this means he wants to play 4-4-2 again).

Wonder who the 5 players called up from the argentine league are hmm

Clemente, Andujar for sure,

As for speculation, he needs another keeper(I think)

Riquelme(is he fit?)...but i don't watch the argentine league much so you may have a better idea of who Sabella might call up

Defenders:
Daniel DIAZ (Getafe – Spain)For me this isn't a terrible call up imo, he has been good in La Liga this season.

Hugo CAMPAGNARO (Napoli – Italy)

Federico FERNANDEZ (Napoli – Italy)

Pablo ZABALETA (Manchester City – England)

Luciano MONZÓN (Nice– France)Should be Coloccini in here instead.

Ezequiel GARAY (Benfica – Portugal)

Marcos ROJO (Spartak Moscow – Russia)Should call up Angeleri or Ansaldi instead imo, Rojo hasn't impressed post-Pep Batista

Midfielders:
Angel DI MARIA (Real Madrid- Spain)

Javier MASCHERANO (Barcelona – Spain)

Fernando GAGO (Roma – Italy)

Erik LAMELA (Roma – Italy)

Maxi RODRIGUEZ (Liverpool – England)Should be Jonas called up instead, he's good with Newcastle and can be a good sub or starter.

José SOSA (Metalist – Ukraine)Can't overstate my loathe for this call up, he's crap.

Forwards:
Gonzalo HIGUAIN (Real Madrid – Spain)

Lionel MESSI (Barcelona – Spain)

Rodrigo PALACIO (Genoa – Italy)

Sergio AGÜERO (Manchester City – England)

No Pastore or Banega, that's odd.

Not surprised Biglia wasn't called up though, I love this player and it's a shame he isn't getting called up as I think he could cement a starting spot in our midfield. I think he would be a great leader in our midfield like he is for Anderlecht, he has 10 assists this season! FFS, he's not injury prone at all and has been good whenever he played with the NT so why hasn't he played in almost a year Mad

Lamela was a great call up imo, if he can hit the ground running with la seleccion I think he can be a starter.

I agree, from what I've seen of Biglia, he could be 5 times better than Sosa would ever be. He's like a Cambiasso but with better passing and he runs a lot. He deserves to be called up. But I think he needs to go to a big club as well.

Any ideas, as someone who keeps up with the Argentine league, who would be called up for the domestic contingent?

Nirgal and Matpol follow it to my knowledge. I've stopped watching primera and only watch River every now and then Razz

Possible River call-ups: Abecasis (FB), Cirigliano (DM), Ocampos (Winger), but I doubt any of them will be called up.

I'd like this line up from the players he's called up so far:
------------------------Romero
Zabaleta - Campagnaro - Garay - Rojo
---------------Gago-------Mascherano
Lamela----------------Messi----------------Palacio
-------------------------Aguero

I think Garay should play. Not that I dont rate Campagnaro, but I feel Garay and Mascherano are exactly the kind of pair which complement each other well and with Benfica he has really come into his own.

People are actually saying he is playing better than David Luiz did.

Seriously Dani? I didn't watch the entire Benfica match yesterday, but based off that alone he didn't look like the David Luiz standard. Either way I agree that Garay could do well with Mascherano, if he were at Barca he would be a direct sub for Pique based on attributes alone.

I didnt see the game either and I dont agree either. But I watch like, 10 Benfica games a season...I aint going to argue with their own fans who say different.

Campagnaro got injured today in the first half of the game vs Fiorentina. Could not find the extent of the injury, but probably not going to be available in 2 weeks

If I were Sabella, I'd probably still call him up so that he can get to know the players, the staff and the tactics the coach wants his players to learn.

I haven't heard anything else on Aimar since then as well, I don't think he's getting the call this time around though unfortunately.

I've been thinking about it and Garay definitely needs to start alongside Mascherano. Garay has been one of the best defenders in the world this season, that's not even an exaggeration, he has been a huge hit at Benfica.

At this point I just welcome any new blood over Heinze/Burdisso/Demi, and he was called to a friendly, the purpose of these is to test new players. A few pages back I said I'm not exactly a huge fan of Campagnaro, but I was nevertheless still excited to see how he would work out.

I haven't heard anything on Aimar either.

Tbh, even if Banega wasn't injured, I would want Gago to start, he earned it in the Copa America. and IMO he compliments Mascherano better. Also has better defensive skills than Banega.
