Ozil vs. Fabregas
Essentiallly, they both play CAM/AM. It was a battle of the leagues first, now,we can compare them to each other first hand

Re: Ozil vs. Fabregas
Why compare future zidane to a benchplayer? Fabregas sealed hes career when he joined farca.

I didn't mean their game, I meant their hairstyles, shirt numbers, jerseys I mean, what else could you compare with Cesc, how he entertains himself on the bench?St_Nick09_of_Goal wrote:one is a starter, the other is a bench warmer

Re: Ozil vs. Fabregas
It's like comparing Ozil to our Kaka
Anyway Ozil will always be better since he's our main creator, cesc at barca won't be able to shine with a certain iniesta/messi/xavi/thiago being around

Re: Ozil vs. Fabregas
One's more of a converted forward (Ozil), while the other is an old school attacking midfielder. As such, Cesc tends to start a lot deeper than Ozil and truly plays in the middle. Rarily does he go to a wing. Cesc also uses a lot of different passes in terms of length.
Ozil is more of a creative forward. He attacks the box a lot more than Cesc and prefers to start from a wing and work inside. Plays much closer to his strikers and, thus, scores regularly.
Both are very precise and creative with their passing, although technically very different.
Of course, one is schooled in Tiki Taka while the other is playing in a direct style of attack.
I don't rate one better than the other right now. Now that they are playing in the same league, we will truly see who is the better player.

C'mon now, he isn't bad. Yeah, he'll need to be Xavi's shadow for the next 2 years but ,eventually, he'll get the roleH.A. wrote:It's like comparing Ozil to our Kaka

Sportsczy grasped the essense of my post I only think that he'll be their main force next year to come...sportsczy wrote:One's more of a converted forward (Ozil), while the other is an old school attacking midfielder. Sportsczy, did Spain ever have a real AM except of Mendieta?

Re: Ozil vs. Fabregas
people will be incredibly aggressive if we say 1 is better than the other.
but i feel that fabregas will never explode into doing something ballon d or worthy with barca as have xavi and maybe ozil in the future with madrid.
fabregas is a wc player but something gives me that feeling even after xavi leaves. i might be very very wrong though.

Re: Ozil vs. Fabregas
for me Ozil is not only a good passer,he is fast, slick and elegant unlike fabregas who counts mainly on his accurate passing and movement on the bitch and thats it.both are great but Ozil is the winner.

Re: Ozil vs. Fabregas
I agree with sportsczy... Can't wait for El Clasico man, the match ups keep getting better and better every year it seems, Barca has gotten stronger but so have we... It's going to be on like Donkey Kong
Btw there is no doubt in my mind Fab will get a lot of minutes, he will be worked into the line up some how... Maybe he won't be a starter this season but I see him being a starter as early as next season...
He is more similar to Xavi than Iniesta but I could see him replacing Iniesta because he is a true Cule, and you know Barca love their Cule's

Re: Ozil vs. Fabregas
Right now, probably Fabregas for me only because Ozil just broke out, whereas Fabregas has been on the scene at the top level since he was 16.

I can't say which one is better, but in real i would much rather have özil on the team, he has more potential and isn't as injury proned as cesc, and he fits our style perfectly.

Re: Ozil vs. Fabregas
I like Ozil a lot. But as Sportsczy says he actually a converted forward and will play some games as a forward wing.
Cesc on the other hand is a top notch attacking midfielder. He will start the season the the bench, due to his late integration with the team, but the plan is for him to start. They are planning on playing 4 midfielders (Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets with Cesc) and playing only 3 defense. Also they have Thiago, Mascherano, Keita and Kiko in reserve. In a few years you'll see them with a starting line-up of Thiago and Cesc with Busquets.
I think both players are excellent and it's difficult to say who is better and also to say who will be more valuable to their team.
I think the bigger question is how much better is their midfield to our??

Re: Ozil vs. Fabregas
He defines our way of playing in final 3rd In other words, our attack is based around him, of course he fits more at the moment but Cesc is no less of a midfielderFreeza wrote:I can't say which one is better, but in real i would much rather have özil on the team, he has more potential and isn't as injury proned as cesc, and he fits our style perfectly.

Re: Ozil vs. Fabregas
Barca will have the better midfield Bill. No question about that... by how much will be more interesting. They started Keita-Iniesta-Thiago in the last game. That is their C midfield lineup honestly. Will be interesting to see how we do against their A midfield lineup.

Re: Ozil vs. Fabregas
To the first part, Özil has got more options than Cesc (a lot faster, better ball control, stronger, leaves goalkeepers almost no chance when free on goal), he could develop into midfielder and forward, something Cesc can't do because he isn't as fast or much of a real attacking midfielder ( more like a CM converted to ACM). He is also not much of a dribbler, at the moment I'd say Cesc is better but with time Ozil has got more room for improvement. Something else where Cesc is really bad at is controlling the pace of the game. He can't do it like Xavi or Iniesta, even Thiago is ahead of him in that aspectfutbol_bill wrote:I like Ozil a lot. About the second part, they can only field 11 players on the field( unless they field their infamous 4-3-3-4 formation). I'm not scared of their midfield at all. If they start with 3 defenders, our counters would murder them. No midfield is fast enough to recover against people like CR7, Ozil or Di Maria in defence in time
The only guy who could prove to be a real problem is Alexis Sanchez
