Re: Sunderland AFC
Not got a clue tbh
We will still have injuries from last season
So its just a question of waiting to see what happens.

Re: Sunderland AFC
I wonder if Wickham is happy about the signing of Ji Dong Won, he's direct competition to him over playing time. I mean, I thought Wickham chose the Black Cats over us because of better chances for First Team football. Could Sunderland even have delayed the announcing of Ji to wait for Wickham to sign first?
Anyway, should be interesting to see how these new players to the BPL shall do there.

Re: Sunderland AFC
Still potential to sign Gibson & O'Shea I think, Brown doesn't want to leave the north west apparently.
And I cant see Dong affecting Wickhams decision, I also wouldn't be surprised if we sign another forward.
Bruce spoke with Wickham & explained his plans for the future so he knew the situation.

"Once the fee was agreed and I met with the manager, he basically told me everything about the club and the ambitions, and it was sold," Wickham told the club's official website.

Re: Sunderland AFC
Gibson is apparently up here staying in Seaham Hall (posh hotel/spa players tend to stay in wile having talks).
The papers seem to think Oshea is close to signing although if Arsenal sell clichy they may fancy him.
Oshea is the main one I want personally, dont think we particularly need any more mid fielders.
Another 2 players and I think we will have a pretty decent squad, a right back possibly Hutton & another forward, I would love Bellamy.

Re: Sunderland AFC
Readytogo are mocking our signings, saying neither Carroll or Adam will get into a top 6 team. Also calling Suarez unproven

Re: Sunderland AFC
We have signed a good versatile RB in O'Shea.
Bruce looks like he knows what he is doing.

IIRC the only game Elmo started at right back was against Man city when Nedum wasn't allowed to play, due to them being his parent club. He dropped back there a couple of times but we primarily see him as a right winger.
Pretty chuffed with O'shea & Brown. Give us allot of experience and cover for our defence. Espechially chuffed with O'Shea he was the one I mainly wanted due to his versatility.
Betting has been suspended for us to sign Jermain Defoe & odds slashed for N'zogbia following sighting & speculation relating to them being in the area for talks.

Re: Sunderland AFC
To be honest we need to.
Considering the injury problems we had last season & limited size of squad.
Majority of the loan players will not be returning. Mensah, Muntari, Welbeck, Nedum. We have also sold Henderson and Bolo Zendens contract expired.
I think there will still be more to come.
There is potential for Gibson to join the other Man Utd lads.
We also need another forward and I wouldn't be shocked if Bruce had 1 or 2 shock signings no 1 will be expecting.

Re: Sunderland AFC
Have Sunderland signed good quality so far or do you think many of their signings are going to turn out to be disappointingly average?
Not intending to take a swing at them here, I'm honestly wondering about it.
When they signed Gyan, one was able to be more or less confident that he would deliver. Now they have signed 8 or 9 players in this window and I can't see the Gyan in there. Buy loads and trust that at least a few of them will turn out good?

Re: Sunderland AFC
I think O'Shea and Gardner will be top quality for them. Wickham is 18 and it'll be interesting to see how many minutes he'll get and how he'll adapt.
Think Wes will be injured more often than not, and the Korea kid will go back to his homeland in January.. just my guess.
I think they have it in them to compete with Everton for that 7th spot.
Vaughn is also a very good player for mid-table teams, was Blackpool's 3rd best player after Adam and Campbell

Re: Sunderland AFC
For the money we have spent and the numbers we have got I cant complain.
Bruce has tried to address areas we lacked by signing these players.
Set Piece delivery-It was dire last season tbh. I dont think we scored from a free kick or corner. As much as I loved Hendo, he rarely beat the first man. This is something Larsson excels at.
Lack of goals from midfield-We over relied on our forwards far too much. Gardner scored 10 goals last season finishing as Brums top goal scorer.
I think we will be selling Craig Gordon, he will take a decent wage off our wage bill and bring some more money in. Not seen much of Westwood my self but he has a decent reputation. It will be a good fight between him and Mignolet to secure the goal keeper spot.
O'Shea brings a level of versatility not many players offer. If a player gets injured and we dont have another player to cover that position it will be likely he can fit in there. So we wont have to play other players out of position.
Its worth remembering last season Sunderland had the youngest average aged squad in the league. Brown & O'shea bring allot of experience & confidence. Something which we have lacked on occasions.
Dong is a unknown entity at the moment, hard to judge a player from highlights videos but he seems to have plenty of pace, power, ability and vision. Bruce has form of bringing unknown players who have been quite successful. Look at Zaki, Rodallega, Palacios, Valencia,Rodallega.
We also have Sessègnon from the jan transfer window who started fitting in nicely, I can see him being a big player for us this season.
Now we have brought some numbers in I can see us making one or 2 big signings on the Gyan/Bent scale.
We have broke our transfer record each season pretty much since we came back up to the prem.
Deep down Bruce still wants Welbeck back, so will probably hold out till start of season to see if we can get him before paying for a new forward.
Depending who else we sign a couple of players will potentially leave. Possibly Steed, Richardson maybe even Cattermole.
We dont currently have plans to sell Gyan but if a big enough offer comes in it is possible.
There is allot of speculation about Defoe but I cant really see that happening. Spurs are too stingy and will want stupid money for him.
We are still in the race for Nzogbia.

Re: Sunderland AFC
Sunderland linked with Aquilani both on Talksport and Football-Italia. Probably BS, but very interesting in terms of your financial situation (much richer than what I imagined) if true.
pretty weird how Ready2go are convinced that Adam-Henderson will be our midfield duo next season. someone should tell them ,just cuz you sign a player it doesn't mean they'll start all the time. lol
