post milan vs bayern
lets anaylze our performance in our 1st main pre season game
- ibra looked very sharp today
- boateng was out of sorts and IMO shouldn't be anywhere near AM
- Taiwo had a decent game
- emanuelson played pretty
good
- in general, we lacked that creative dominace in midfield(we really need mr x)

Re: post milan vs bayern
(On ganso's remark on us playing most of our starters)
Except that half of them played very little and even 2 non-familiar players in a system can destroy the chemistry.
Allegri already explained his intention to experiment in this match in order to test formations and players as winning was the idea more of Bayern since it is their hosted cup.
Lets not forget Bayern started their starters and standard formation with the intention solely of winning compared to Max's side who were smart enough to experiment in order to learn from this match. You could see it, Bayern did not take of any starters and if anything, they augmented their line-up by further adding more strength in the line-up and you could see it even the penalties where all the starters took the shots in their line-up.
Remember, it is known that the best managers use friendlies not to win and give false confidence to the team, but to use the time effectively and resourcefully before the games that actually matter. Allegri did the same against Arsenal and Barca last year. The teams that go for it all in friendlies? See Ferrara's Juve in pre season or Pellegrini's Madrid.
No one should be judged here as Bayern is fitter and sharper atm due to their season starting earlier.
Also, keep in mind Allegri is yet expecting his signings so he can implement them into his system as this formation was makeshift at best.
"my comments from the matchday thread"
Allegri: “The team did good things and some not so good, but it was predictable because it was only the 2nd friendly match after almost 2 weeks of preparation. We’ve faced an opponent that was more tonic than us.”
The Germans have been preparing for their new leagues for week now and have played few friendlies. Unlike Milan, who have got back to trainings on July 12 and played only one, unimportant friendly match.

Re: post milan vs bayern
i thought he did a great job against robben considering he is one of the best players in the world. He didnt get beat every single time btw...
also,i think allegri asked him not to attack because of you know who.Abate also didnt attack much.

It was his first match, and had to mark Robben, give the guy a break. He wasn't at fault for any of the goals, and kept him off the score sheet.

Antonini got scooled by Lenon who only drives right all his life ... and here Taiwo does a great job marking Robben ... a guy who can get past players with ease and u think Antonini is still better !?

Re: post milan vs bayern
taiwo didnt really keep him off the scoresheet if you didnt realize the amount of saves abbiati had to make...almost every attack came from his side aswell....
anyways i hope he improves and he doesnt play like he did today....playing with 2 DMs and having static fullbacks is gonna be way to defensive

No almost all of the Bayern attacks came from the middle. Taiwo was so solid. He saved Bonera and Nesta's ass during the game and made some great tackles.

Re: post milan vs bayern
I think taiwo did an excellent job but he did manage to give space for robben to go into the centre which is where most of bayern attacked most of the time.
Abate was very good today aswell. And this match also showed how much we need to reinforce our midfield which is the linking point between the attack and defense.

Re: post milan vs bayern
I think it is way too easy to make too much from this game, especially the result.
The only deduction I will draw is that if our transfer season is over, our CL trophy campaign is over. We have good depth, but if a couple of key players are out, there are weaknesses there. Eg. If any two of Silva, Nesta or Mexes are out. Also, the need for creativity from behind Ibra (ie. midfield) was obvious.
That's all I'm prepared to say for now.

Re: post milan vs bayern
come on pps be a lil optimistic...
we were playing against a full power team after summer re inforcements...
and we were playing without our best defender and without our golden boy pato... i predict if we played with pato instead of cassanate and robinho instead of boa we could have won... i feel boateng is good for a gattuso role with that fighter spirit.. plus he would provide a lil bit more attacking flair their

Re: post milan vs bayern
This was our first proper pre season match (unless you count the 12-0 against that Serie D side) and Bayern's fourth fifth maybe. Allegri used it for experimentation and for our players to shake of the rust and get match fitness. Not to mention some of our starters were missing and our midfield maestros are yet to arrive. Relax guys.

Re: post milan vs bayern
Its annoying to see how important a player can be for a team like Robben is for Bayern. Talk about being a one-man army!
I think Taiwo did a good job after a while. Anyway, how many defenders can put up with Robben in the first place?

Other pre season results
Hull 3-0 Liverpool
Rapid Vienna 4-1 Valencia
Newcastle lost to some MLS second division team
See what I mean?

But they were playing with pretty much all reserves,we were playing with only 3 non-starters for most part
of course its just a friendly, but you know,it shows we need improvements
