Dani Carvajal Empty Dani Carvajal

The injury suffered by Carvajal could very well be career ending.

I do believe with three ligaments, including ACL, that it is a career ending injury. Best hope is he is out for a year and a half , which means January 2026, at best. Recovery from ACL is bad enough and usually results in some loss in speed and mobility. Having the other two ligaments torn as well makes it much more complicated.

So as a replacement, they only have a converted winger, Lucas to play that position. Apparently Militao can also play there although the only trusted CBs on squad are Militao and Rudiger. Seems Alaba is still at least a month before returning. Other options at CB are Tchouameni and Vallejo. It doesn’t sound like there is anyone useful at Castilla. There is confidence in Joan Martinez, but he also is out for season with torn ACL. I suppose they could use Valverde at RB if they have to. Too bad they didn’t harder to convince Nacho to stay. He would have been able to fill the void at both RB and CB.

So for once, Flo is likely go to market in January for a RB. I don’t think they will look for a CB as Alaba will be back by then and with recent improved contract and huge exit fee for Joan Martinez, it looks like he will be the 4th CB next season. At RB, there aren’t a lot of options out there. Best hope is Trent Alexander. Up to now, there wasn’t a lot of confidence at Madrid that he wouldn’t renew with Liverpool. However, rather than loose him for nothing next summer, Madrid may offer Pool something for him to have him come in January. It will be difficult, but that may be the only viable option. There is the possibility of taking Davies in January for a price to Bayern, rather than getting him for nothing in January. That would be on the basis that either Davies or Mendy could play on right side!

What is your opinion.
