Re: 23/24 UCL Knockout Stage
The Champions is simply a different beast than playing any of the leagues. The cup format has historically given lesser squads the opportunity to take down better equipped squads and thus you see it reflected alot of the times.

All the more reason why you should be winning stuff this season instead of settling with narratives like 'we challenged for the title', 'we ran city close' etc. Kind of no excuses territory too considering you looked the best team in the league tbf over the course of the full season. I mean City were underwhelming throughout. After the season they had last year, it was coming too. They are now cruising to yet another league title in 2nd gear smh. This was like your best shot because this kind of consistency in players' availability and form is hard to emulate and make no mistake city will return to their absolute best next season its far too obvious.

^^ the MO of that post is that our best players are more likely to be dealing with fatigue at this stage of the season, while City have it so easy that they are still somehow top because of their stacked squad

Re: 23/24 UCL Knockout Stage
El gunner, I’m with you on this one. I’m hoping for Arensal to take title at this stage.
What that chart above shows is something that I’ve been saying all year. that is you need a stacked team, not only with starters but with a competent bench, to be able to compete on all fronts, in today’s game. It isn’t just because of fatigue but for coverage of injuries as well. The only teams this year that have this are City and Madrid and both of them are likely stronger next year.

Re: 23/24 UCL Knockout Stage
Why is Arsenal still even relevant on this page despite ELG literally forcing the topic of them at every turn?
This Bayern sucked it was their best chance to beat them especially given all the hype.
Arsenal aint winning this title and they will speak about how they were the closest to City as if its their trophy, because to them, it is.
Moving on, full on the Paris train for this because I Love Enrique, want Mbappe to win the UCL plus just want a French team to win above all

Re: 23/24 UCL Knockout Stage
The league isn't over, yet. City will likely face at least one team by the end of the season that pressures them into their radical possession game. At which point, a fluky long-shot or counter attack could catch them with their pants down again. If Brentford can do it, other teams can do it. They also have an embarrassing record against Tottenham.

Nothing wrong with hoping an underdog can upset the favorite! I suspect your viewpoint is due to your rivalry re Liverpool - Arsenal!
Also in this post you are rooting for PSG yet just days ago, you were rooting for Don Carlo!

Is Enrique basque? that might very well explain things..
If the other Basque, Xabi Alonso goes to Madrid in a year or two, think Arq would be ready to fill that vacant slot left by sportsczy and join the Madrid fanbase

Which one is it, Carlo winning or PSG winning? If it is latter, I hope you bounce your pinky toe on something.

Re: 23/24 UCL Knockout Stage
Bill hella salty Im not supporting Real.
Man, I am supporting the win for Ancelotti I couldn't care less for a Real Madrid win, if that makes sense.
Paris I have a bit more incentive because number one:
1. French UCL is overdue
2. It isn't Real Madrid which has gotten old by now to the point of acceptance
3. Luis Enrique because Asturias is my 3rd favourite province in the land plus I love the player and coach
So this isn't cognitive dissonance this is a man who is quite literally coping out having NONE OF MY TEAMS IN THE SEMIS.
But waiting for the time ElG somehow squeezes in the topic of Arsenal who were supposed to face and destroy Real Madrid

Re: 23/24 UCL Knockout Stage
I was against Real Madrid winning UCL at a time because I once hoped for Milan to catch up to them.
With their recent monumental success I am straight up saying no one will ever catch up to them.
Therefore I support the success of UCL pedigree compared to the most boring UCL win of all time in Man City who even in their celebration showed how paltry their fanbase is.

Re: 23/24 UCL Knockout Stage
Ultimately, this Real team is very likeable and did not require an absurd amount of money and obnoxious tactical analysis of training ground antics of Carletto to fuel their progress.
Carletto getting his 5th UCL win will have me smiling because never did I predict such a comeback from him when I assumed his career was done some years ago.
Milanisti and Madrid fans uniting in support for him is a rare occasion and one to savour. As frustrating as he was for us in the league he was a UCL maestro for Milan and invaluable.

Re: 23/24 UCL Knockout Stage
I obviously hope Real Madrid will win, but the most interesting/unique/"champion of the people" winner among the semi-finalists is clearly Dortmund, who are 5th in the Bundesliga and arguably have their weakest squad of the past decade.
I can understand why some people don't like Real Madrid, and of course, Man City as well, but I really can't understand the appeal you see in PSG, Arq. They may be a lot of things, but I don't find them very likeable even if I put some goodwill into it. Even if I was a big a fan of Mbappe as you are, I don't think that quite compensates for the general lack of appeal and regular media shithousery of the club that he's about to leave. I've always liked their kits, though

I cant imagine there could ever by any hype for a clash between Tucheliban terrorist football and Madrid's luck-infused anti-football. And here we are, we have to live it.

It's normal to lose interest in a competition after your team is knocked out doesn't mean the rest of the world shares the same sentiment.

well the activity in the forum today speaks for itself
It depends on the matchup, I think Arsenal-RM or City-Bayern wouldve been more interesting.
