Introducing the Goal Legacy Discord Server

Hey Everyone,

After a few months of discussion and weighing of feedback received, we (the Admin team) have decided to create a server on Discord as a companion platform to this forum. The server will feature many of the same sections we have here in the forum, it'll just be a very different communication experience if you've never used Discord before.

A few things:

- Use of the Discord server is entirely 100% optional. You don't have to use it if you don't want to.

- The Discord server is not a replacement for the forum. We received strong feedback that you would very much like the forum to remain and so we will honor that and continue to look for ways to improve it and attract new users.

- The purpose of the Discord server is to provide a new and different way of experiencing the fandom for this sport that we all love. A lot has changed in how we can communicate with each other since we founded this forum 12 years ago so embracing that change is only natural. We hope to recapture some of the magic that the GL Chatbox gave us on matchdays by using this server as well as create some new magic and memories as well.

- For those interested in joining our Discord server, please be aware that the same rules we expect you to abide by on this forum will apply there as well, along with the consequences for breaking those rules. Please see our Rules thread if you need a refresher.

- As the Discord server is a companion platform to this forum, anyone who wishes to join it must register as a member of the forum first. All requests to join the Discord server without having first joined the forum will be rejected.

If you're unfamiliar with Discord, here are the cliff notes:

- It's entirely chat / instant message-based.
- It's available on web browsers, a downloadable desktop app for Windows PCs, or on mobile devices via Google Play and IOS App Store.
- There is the opportunity for voice chats, both publicly and privately.
- While primarily known for being gamer-centric, there's a server for just about anything you can think of.

We'll be officially launching the GL Discord Server this Thursday, July 20th @ 12 PM ET (6 am local time in Australia/NZ) to coincide with the opening day of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
