Christophe Galtier sack watch
It has long been rumoured that Zidane would coach PSG this summer but RMC are reporting today that Zidane again said no (for 6th time?).
Enter Christophe Galtier, currently with Nice, French champion with Lille during the Qatar era. He is now favorite to become manager. He was always Campos’ choice and PSG and Nice are now discussing the fee to release him (3 millions or players exchange).
Let’s see how it goes

Re: Christophe Galtier sack watch
This looks more like a long term appointment. Interesting to see how well he deals with the dressingroom. He's only managed french clubs who haven't had any top level players so far. This move will either sink him or make him the hottest coach in football.
Does he have the clout to tell Messi to defend? I doubt it. Hence, QSG will have to be patient with him until all the big egos leave one after the other and they make Mbappe the center of their project and work around that.
There is also a rumour that they are working on a deal for Sanchez. Understandable considering he played under Galtier at Lille. Last time he was in over his head at Bayern, maybe now that he has matured as a player he might finally be the missing piece to their midfield conundrum

Good luck to him managing GM Mbappe, Messi and Neymar. Let’s face it, these three will be running club and more than likely in different directions.

Re: Christophe Galtier sack watch
Galtier is the best coach in Ligue 1 along with Christian Gourcuff.
Galtier with youth and players is a wizard and is a strong personality along with his prowess for the tactical side of things.
Is this akin to Setién at Barça? Yes but he isn't a total pushover like the former was.
I heavily support this move but if over the hill Messi and Neymar causes problems I can't see why he is to blame.

If the only barometer for success is the CL and you only get 1 season to prove your worth he, too, will fail.
Psg need to understand building a project takes time and discipline.

This choice is in line with their Frenchification strategy. But if CL success is what they're after, it is an odd one.
Granted he never had a world class to work with, but the few times he had the chance to play in Europe, he ended up exemplifying everything that is wrong with French coaching and why Ligue 1 has such an embarassing European record. He's what you'd call in French "frileux". Don't know how to translate it but Nick and Sports know it's the right descriptor for him

Re: Christophe Galtier sack watch
While PSG built the best palmares in France (of debatable worth) this past decade i think a 7th coach in 11 years is pathetic
Galtier has a decent record coaching provincial clubs, it's unclear is he a long term appointment or just a plan B on an ejectable seat. I bet it's the latter.

From the Coupe de France games I saw he seems to be a great big game coach though on top of an outstanding league manager?
The impact he has had is astounding.

Re: Christophe Galtier sack watch
Sports is not wrong, he never said 100%. But let’s not play this childish game please, even RMC journalists that are working on this will tell you that Zidane hesitated a lot and still is, but ultimately didn’t want to miss on the chance to take the French NT. But he has been negotiating with Qatar for months to the point where players like Mbappe were certain he would take over the team. The situation has been like that for weeks, and at times it seemed like Qatar had convinced him but it’s as of yesterday that some of their journalists (Fred Hermel mainly) confirmed it was not happening.Valkyrja wrote:sportsczy wrote:Zidane getting hired is 99% imo.
Zidane is choosing to wait for the French National team, he fees like it’s a cycle closing for Deschamps and he will wait.

Is there really a difference between 99% and 100%. To you it may seem a childish game, but in your absence you missed Sports admitting that he was deliberately trolling us and was joking 90% of the time.

Brother there was a time you also claimed to be a grandfather drinking cervezas in a pub next to the Bernabeu getting top infos from other socios…for all I know you are in some basement in Islamabad. Imma just focus on posting and commenting on other people’s posts, if Sports is trolling so are you lol

Re: Christophe Galtier sack watch
There is nothing in that claim that isn’t true. Sports just likes to get under my skin as he has acknowledged several times. He has gone on this anti Flo campaign with ridiculous lies as I debunked them and has never tried to challenge my responses only tried to ignore them. I will always try to defend my team and its best president ever. So if you want to call my defense trolling, so be it.

@Nick Sports passes rumor as near certainty with so much regularity he absolutely deserves to be called out on it. Using that 1% cop out, come on

Re: Christophe Galtier sack watch
Galtier is an underdog manager... that's the odd thing here. He's a Mourinho tactician with a nicer personality.
Not sure how he's going to implement that kind of team sacrifice with this group.
It's going to be interesting.

Zinedine Zidane will NOT be new PSG manager, confirmed. Al-Khelaifi now announces: “We have decided for an other option as new manager - the best option for our tactical idea”, tells Le Parisien.

Re: Christophe Galtier sack watch
If they couldn't get Zidane, why fire Poch at all? Is Galtier an upgrade in any respect? Or is PSG seriously simply thinking "Well last year we had to appease Messi so we got argie Poch, this year we need to appease Mbappe so we're getting the best frenchie that will coach for us"?

Re: Christophe Galtier sack watch
Galtier is better than Poche no doubt about that.
He took Lille to the Ligue 1 title last year.
At St Etienne, they were very competitive with him as a manager. Since he left, that team has slowly fallen apart and ended up in Ligue 2 this season.
Never had any great players either. He know how to manage. Unlike Poche, he's won trophies (Ligue.1 and Coupe de la Ligue). Beat PSG straight to win the Ligue 1 title and eliminated PSG in quarters to win the Coupe de la Ligue.
As Farfan mentioned, he's been atrocious in Europe though. I blame that more on high turnover at his teams and, as a result, not being ready to play in those tournaments early in the season.
We'll see how he does. But I like him. He's really a good manager.

Re: Christophe Galtier sack watch
I would have been genuinely shocked if Zidane ever took the PSG job. That man actually loves Marseille and they love him right back.
Watching Ligue 1 matches for the past 3 years, particularly Marseille and I could 99% guarantee those mad fucking bunch of men (and probably women) would have done something fucking ridiculous if Zizou chose PSG.
