The Boys || Amazon Prime Video
This show definitely deserves its own thread.
First 3 episodes of Season 3 dropped last Friday and......Yup, this show was very much missed.
There is truly no show like this on TV right now.
I NEED Antony Starr to cop an Emmy for this role.

Definitely watching but waiting until it's all out.
Especially for Amazon it makes no sense to drag out the release. Most people have prime for deliveries, not video.

Yeah agreed. That's pretty annoying as I like to binge stuff.

Totally agreed on the weaknesses EG, Ryan for instance was dropped most of the season for seemingly no reason
But is it really subverting storytelling expectations? Maybe it came too late, but I feel like every time they go and do something surprising and you think "oh no, can't believe they did that" within an episode or 2 everything goes back to normal. Doesn't really hold you in suspense not knowing what to expect.

that's exactly what i meant... it always looks like they will subvert expectations by initiating it and teasing something, but then they don't follow through with it. So at least for a few episodes they play around with your suspense and intrigue.

Re: The Boys || Amazon Prime Video
Yeah okay sounds like we're agreed then, this is the part that I took issue with, but as you mentioned it's addressed later on
"But easily the best trait of this show is its daring trait of pushing the boundaries in terms of violence, gore, visual creativity and conventional storytelling subversion. "
