Re: iNsTaNtLy bEtTeR
1 point better relative to competition. CL doesn't matter as any player can fck up any tie individually, like Dollarumma. In league individual mistakes get filtered out, and true level is better revealed. And Barca only had worse season in 07-08, what does that matter in instantly better season?Myesyats wrote:Harmonica wrote:Non factor with leading progressive play in Europe?
Yes
PSG had better seasons without messi like 18/19 when they scored more goals and got more points. Eliminated in Ro16 in CL still so Messi didnt elevate them to higher level.

Why are you deflecting to barca if we're not talking about barca? my points was about PSG and their ligue runs.
except the Lille win in 20/21
—PSG got 93 points in 17/18
—91 points in 18/19
—and were on their way to 90 points in 19/20 before it was canceled due to Covid.
So how 86 points with Messi this season is improvement over recent seasons? They got more points without his forward progression

Why are you skipping a season in instantly better thread? PSG won ligue this season by 15 points, lost last season by 1. That's an instantly better season if you ask me.Myesyats wrote:Why are you deflecting to barca if we're not talking about barca? my points was about PSG and their ligue runs.

You're just saying "by 15 points" as if Messi earned those points lol.
Last season: 82 points
This season: 86 points
So 4 points more earned. Last season, coach was sacked midseason and it also played a part in more points lost. I don't see Messi's input in there.

Messi is part of the team, in a team sport. Just compare how much more space Mbappe had this season than last and you'll see the difference. Teams left the fastest player on football without double marking, or even unguarded because of Messi. If Mbappe was better finisher, they would've cracked the 100 point mark, probably will next season when Messi can resume full mode. Why do you think Mbappe didn't move to Real? I'll give you one guess.Myesyats wrote:You're just saying "by 15 points" as if Messi earned those points lol.

Re: iNsTaNtLy bEtTeR
The heights Messi fanbois have to go to justify his flop season at PSG.
Now he's the great enabler. Enabling Mbappe to score. Lol. Yes, give him the Ballon d'Enabler.
We finished 2nd this year. 3rd last year. 'nuff said. Better in the league, particularly after Xavi came in.
Honestly glad to be rid of Messi's beta loser attitude, especially in KOs. He hasn't put in a KO performance for club since forever. Trademark forlorn look against RM this time too from him. Oh great enabler, why thou hath abandoned thine enabling
At least in that EL exit, we still mounted a comeback. We saw some fighting spirit. Can't remember the last time I saw that in a knockout.
We have a great future to look forward to: Pedri, Fati, Gavi, Araujo. Even if say Gavi doesn't renew, we have an identity now which we were lacking since at least 2015.
I will always remember Messi fondly, I grew up watching him. What he became though is not what he could have become. Have elucidated my thoughts on this elsewhere.
Messi fanbois though are insufferable. Imagine hanging around the Barca forum even after a year. Lol.
Won a match? All hail Messi. Lose a match? It's a team game. Reminds me of India's PM - record no. of covid deaths? System Failure. A random person praises India? All hail the PM.
Things I expect from Messi fanbois next season:
- How Messi was held back in WC by XYZ player
- why Messi was deserving of Ballon D'or and not some other player
- How Amber Heard could have won her case if Messi was in the legal team
- How Messi's warmup routine helped PSG GK with his lovemaking
Take a hike Messi fanbois. Let us enjoy the team game and not your idiosyncratic nonsense.

La Liga: 73 points, +30 GD this season, 79 points, +47 GD previous season.
CL elimination: group stage this season*, round of 16 previous season.
Copa del Rey elimination: round of 16 this season, semi-final previous season.
So yeah, worsened in EVERY competition this year If there have been any signs of improvement to the team it is because of the change at club level and Xavi, not cause Messi left. Before Xavi came Barcelona looked like a mid table team, FAR worse than without Messi last year.
*Barcelona being eliminated from Europa League in quarter finals to the 11th team in Bundesliga
Re: iNsTaNtLy bEtTeR
You have to go back to 07-08 to worse league performance, and probably two decades to 02-03 to worse seasonal performance.

Re: iNsTaNtLy bEtTeR
The fact that Pep can’t win CL to save his life without Messi says it all.
He’s not an obstacle. If you can build around him and surround him with competent players and coach, he’s the greatest asset.
Messi haters such as Alex are as annoying as Messi suckers tbh,

In a sense you're even worse than these Messi haters - your sole reason for existence in this section is to shit on Barca.
There are haters and there are anti-fans. Imagine living just to shit on a club.

Re: iNsTaNtLy bEtTeR
Imagine being so delusional or having such poor judgement that you think Messi was making Barca worse.
Imagine thinking that Barca finishing 2nd this year instead of 3rd last year means you had a better season
Imagine being FC Barcelona and being eliminated from the champions league group stage while scoring TWO goals. Would that EVER happen with Messi in the squad?
Then imagine that elimination not motivating you enough to win the lowly Europa league.
Imagine signing a bunch of players and improving your squad with players like Gavi, Nico, Feran Torres, Depay, Aubameyang, upgrading your coach, and STILL claiming that it was Messi holding you back.
Well, I guess I don't need to imagine any of that, I am seeing it on clear display.
TWO goals in the group stage
Messi alone scored 10 in a group stage himself, and 5 against a single opponent lol

I imagine he will wait until whenever we actually win a vs a decent opposition n go through to the QFs or something and who knows how long it will take us to manage that, then he will pop up suddenly n say something along the lines of "I told u so"

Where is the autistic gimp?
Show yourself you twat instead of hiding in a sewer like the rat you are @alexjanosik
You got your 4-3-3, you got your positional play, you got your pressing, you got your Barca DNA coach, you got your La Masia kids starting, you got your wingers, and you got the best striker in the world
Yet you got knocked out in the CL group stage a SECOND year in a row with a +200M investment this summer
This spineless coward won’t say shit though but he’ll pop up the moment PSG exit the CL knockout rounds Lmfao

Re: iNsTaNtLy bEtTeR
You guys are having the wrong debate here. With or without Messi, Barça has absolutely no excuse for getting knocked out in the CL group stage for the second year in a row, especially after investing A LOT this summer.
You can't tie this failure to Barça not having Messi because all the other teams not named PSG are also competing without Messi and 15 of them have no problem advancing to the round of 16.
This is entirely on Barça and Xavi. They had enough firepower to advance and yet they failed.
Even if Messi had stayed, sooner or later, there would come a day where both parties would have to part ways anyway. A club of Barça's magnitude can't ride on Messi's back forever. They have to build a team strong enough to compete on all fronts and not be dependent on just one player.
In my opinion, Messi's departure was the best thing that could ever happen to Barça because it forced them to get off their asses and plan for a future without him (which they would be forced to anyway if they didn't). Of course rebuilding can take time and everything, but they absolutely have no excuse not to advance this year, with or without Messi, with or without a rebuild, especially with all the money that they poured into the team this summer.
But this is what happens when you have a cheat code for a player who is so good he can hide all of the team's weaknesses and the board's fuck-ups and make you look way better than you really are. When he leaves, everything is laid bare and Barça can't blame nobody but themselves for this.
I repeat, Messi or no Messi, Barça has no excuse not to advance this year to the round of 16.
