Highly unlikely.

Barça has already moved on and Xavi is doing a good job rebuilding.

Bringing Messi back would not only disrupt the process but also set them many steps back.

Messi served his purpose and, just like Ronaldo, bringing them back would bring more harm than good. And I think Xavi is smart enough to know that.

Messi is clearly finished. We have no way of knowing it but I think Xavi waited until the flea is gone. He was unwilling to come before the summer and then when Messi was gone he suddenly agrees to join midway wihout any preseason. Maybe it's just me but it feels like he was waiting for Messi to leave.

As to Messi himself, he should go to MLS and then return in a new role within the club later

Think it had to do more with Bartomeu’s board than anything else.

Obviously it’s easier to implement your authority/style without dressing room heavyweights though.
