Is this Turkey team going to be allowed to return home? What a shocking tournament from a team that had hype coming in

Good game, business as usual for Mancini/Italy. I fear for Turkey's team when they'll return home. Their fans expected MUCH more and are on the more fanatic side.

Re: EURO 2020 - Group A
Not much to comment about here but my thoughts remain the same that Italia's 30 game streak and worse their no goal conceded in 1000+ mins will go against them when a goal is scored and when a real challenge shows up.
That being said respect to Wales who put up a good performance and weren't embarrassed like the previous scrubs.
They have a fantastic team on their hands to Bale to Ramsey to the Welsh Xabi to James and I am happy to see them go through as well.
Great performance by Italia given this was a second team but Mancini's system is so good that they all play on song no matter whom is on.
Verratti is so good and was needed and I cannot wait to see the main midfield on given Italy have the best midfield in the tourney at the moment.
He will be interesting to see with the full squad.

Re: EURO 2020 - Group A
Its always bit of dilemma in these situations, I guess Wales and Italy just didnt go all out and were happy if it were a draw or just a narrow defeat? Still Wales vs a B side of Italy I really thought should have done better?
Mancini according to the commentator brought on everyone in his squad, I dont know if thats normal, but international caps used to be an honor and hard to get, if its like this I feels its not?

It's very normal man Do you remember Belgium vs England last WorldCup? They both have qualified and fielded their second team. Then they played the rest who haven't played in the 3rd place playoff. Netherlands in 2014 did it as well, even Brazil has done it since iirc. You're already through, you don't want to risk injury, and you want to reward all members of the squad as much as you can.

Don't need both Jorginho and Verratti. Take Jorginho off for Barella.

Barella , voted as best Serie A midfielder not by chance, is irreplacable for Mancini of course.
Italy have always played with Verratti Jorginho Barella
After Verratti's injury, Locatelli for Barella

yea but they're not exactly the same type of player. Jorginho is more of a 6, and Verratti more of an 8.
a midfield of
Locatelli --- Verratti --- Barella
looks juicy indeed, but it might be too forward thinking? Is Verratti disciplined enough to pivot a midfield 3?

Re: EURO 2020 - Group A
Robes said it for me.
Verratti is Italian's best midfielder but Barella the most important. Plus in a few years he'll be likely the best the way he is going.
Bastoni is turning out to be one who's caught my eye. He lacks pace but his passing and read of the game is fantastic for his age (22)

Turkey really disappointed and they have Fatih Terim as their manager who's quite good.
Their star striker in Burak is at least 45 and Hakan their only other notable player so wasn't realistic.

Indeed Turkey manager is not Terim ( I believed it too ) but Gunes , this explains how they are crap . They'd not have been same crap under the Emperor Terim

Their legendary 2002 campaign with Hakan Sukur, Emre Belozoglu, Ilhan Manzis, etc. was with this manager Senol Gunes though
Different era, skill declining, weaker team, etc etc
