Zidane has the Madrid midfield playing like 2017 again. Best midfield in the world and its showing. They are absolutely dominating the middle of the park.

Everything that I have criticized Toni Kroos he's finally being the midfielder I've yearned for. His through balls are insane. This is all I ever wanted

Klopp getting outclassed by Zidane who is employing exactly same tactics as all the lower EPL teams. We are so out of sorts for this game and dont seem prepared at all.

Well, it actually was a better 2nd half for Pool for like 10 minutes, maybe 15 but for the entirety of the match, Pool got confused that this is the UCL and not a PL tie vs Fulham as it was a bad match from them. Really bad match today.

Personally did not expect such a performance but it made sense since Zidane employed the very same strategy most teams in the PL do to curtail Pool. I very much expect a more inspired 2nd leg from them but something tells me they'll just get Benzema'd at Anfield.

Also, Vini scoring a brace and Lord Vasquez, Militao and Nacho keeping Pool's front 3 to 1 goal were a joy to witness. Also x2, Trent needs to genuinely improve his defensive side of his game, badly.

Benzema was CLASS still though.

He was, did really well today. Matches like this, talismans like Benzema and Ronaldo need their supporting cast to step up and Vini did. Somehow. I am still shocked by this tbh.

Anyway good win and solid goals from the rest of the attack, hope they keep form until the end of the season.

If this team makes it to the finals hopefully they can be treated with respect and get the credit that was readily handed to cr over the years for benefiting.

The level of the CL this season is a joke.
Madrid are trash. They had Militao and freaking Nacho play CB with Lucas at RB. And they beat Liverpool who are even more trash.
Completely unrecognizable team from the one over the past 2 years.
The team from the last 2 years would have curb stomped this Madrid side. The biggest difference is the drop in intensity from Liverpool. There was zero intensity over 90 minutes. Game played at walking pace which suited a poor Madrid side. The Liverpool of the past 2 years was as intense a side as they came. Wonder what happened cause the team that played today looked like it was on its last legs.

People really underestimate how much lack of fans impacts intensity. That natural pressure, the natural energy, the natural being on your toes.

No sport is suffering as much as footy when it comes to lack of fans, and I genuinely can't think of a top team that's suffering as much as Liverpool. Hell, even as a viewer I can't get fully emotionally invested without the fans and the passion.

anyways, much deserved win for Real. We were absolutely garbage in first half, probably 3-0 would have been a fairer result.

Mane has become Sean Wright Phillips lately and was easily our worst player today alongside Keita (what a stupid mistake starting him).

Usually, I'd be very optimistic of turning over a 3-1 away loss in Europe, but with no fans I'd give us 10% chance of overturning the tie. Can't see us keeping a cleansheet , and can't see us scoring 4.

Possible explanation. That coupled with burnout after having played at that level of intensity over a couple of seasons.
