Re: Calcio Saga 20/21
Interesting interview by Guardiola.
Both were teammates at Brescia.
Yes, it makes sense he'd score much many goals now, Serie A is not that defensive league like before, and in his team he'd work as false 9
I disagree about a point of the piece though, when I read that
" Baggio was famously nicknamed a No 9.5, a player who was neither a striker nor a classic Number 10"
Very disagree on it tbf , for me Baggio was the classic Number 10 and it caused him troubles paradoxically .. he was not so "fiexible" for an era where the Sacchian dogmatism (4-4-2) was ruling.
for example Ancelotti didn't want him at Parma exactly for this tactically problem ( and Ancelotti said he regretted this choice .. but he was an unproven manager at tha time ) and he had problems with other managers
If he would have played in 80's he would have been even greater, basically an amazing 80s player who's played in the following decade

What happened to Ranocchia @Robes? I'm looking at his stats and he seems unable to get minutes even in a team that plays a 3-man defense.
I "remind" when his partnership with Bonnuci was hailed as the future of Italy's defense.

Re: Calcio Saga 20/21
Bald Fraud wrote:Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola admits he will coach an Italian club one day and compares his Barcelona side to Arrigo Sacchi’s Milan.
Guardiola gave an interview to Bobo TV, the Twitch show hosted by former Italy striker Bobo Vieri with Antonio Cassano, Daniele Adani and Nicola Ventola.
Guardiola played with Brescia and Roma between 2001 and 2003.
“When I arrived in Brescia I was staying in a hideous hotel, but I felt like a star. I met Mazzone and he told me: ‘Look Pep, I didn’t want you here. We bought Federico Giunti and we must decide how we can play.’
“He was like a father to me, it’s a pity we couldn’t achieve more with Roberto Baggio in the team. He was so smart, always in the right place.”
His Barcelona side is regarded as one of the best teams of all time.
“Xavi and Iniesta were incredible. They knew exactly what to do. Sometimes you need more than two touches. Sometimes you need five or six, it depends on the moment. That’s why Barcelona won so many trophies, the players were special like those of Sacchi’s Milan.”
However, it’s impossible to talk about that Barcelona side without mentioning Leo Messi.
“He is the best one, his mentality is incredible. He’s never lost a game in training and if he lost it, he would leave the training session. There are only four or five players in history like him. He can play everywhere and his mentality is incredible.
“I thought he should play as a False 9, because on the flank, he would spend 20 minutes without touching the ball. And the best player must get the ball as many times as possible. Before the game against Real Madrid, I decided to play him in that position.”
Guardiola has coached in Spain, England and Germany, whill he ever come to Italy one day?
“At the beginning, I was struggling at City and Bayern Munich. At Barcelona, we never put crosses in the box, but at Bayern Munich, I had Ribery, Robben, Lewandowski and Muller, I had to use the crosses and I will do the same when I come to Italy," Guardiola said.

He's stopped to be good in 2011 , then he was a tragic starter in the Inter banter era ( that partnership with Julio Cesar, Nagatomo as fullback)
Anyway dignity and usefulness as bencher recently.
Inter 've a fantastic defensive trio. But when he was called up for playing , he was always legit.

De Vrij was very good but his best season has been last season surely
( while Skriniar , again great this year, was underachieving last year)
Bastoni is much more improved compared with last year for example
Anyway both had a very good season but for me Skriniar was the best defender and imho those 5 players mentioned by me have been a step above others

The opposite feeling, never been more invested in Atalanta as today. And that's assuming that we can beat Bologna.

I will be in Disneyland as well if we confirm Pirlo's sacking regardless of what happens today.
Just re-hire Allegri and all order will be restored.

Cristiano Ronaldo is not starting against Bologna in the last Serie A match, key one for Juventus to secure a Champions League spot. He’ll be on the bench - no official reasons yet. #Juventus

Actual starters: Dybala-Morata
Gazzetta writes that Ronaldo felt fatigue due to all the matches played and shared it with Pirlo
