They were two of the best talents in the world, not just said to be. They had an early and short peak, and their bodies and minds kept them from having a career as good as was expected.
Then again, Götze will always have that goal, it doesn't really get better than that.

Yup. He makes transfer stories fun so people like him but an Italian journalist having inside sources in England/Germany/Spain etc is really far fetched. Works really hard though so he gets a pass

I remember the GL Barca-Arsenal wars of fans arguing that Wilshere was better than Thiago. Now one of them is one of the best midfielders in the world and a fresh CL winner, the other...

Thiago was being perennially ostracised back then so hard to make that comparison to Wilshere.

I am surprised Wilshere dropped off this much but he was limited in many ways but leaving Arsenal hurt his confidence along with being without Wenger who was a great leader to the young.


And terribly unambitious move by Götze as this does not help his image of how far down he has fallen, at all.

I mean at least stay in the Top 4 leagues man not the completely irrelevant Eredivisie.

PSV don't even have Cocu anymore and Götze is 28 not 35 where he has to do as such.

its like probably the worst time to be free agent player ... no clubs are going to pay anything close to the figure players have in mind for sure

I won't claim to know what Wilshere was thinking, but the smoking and general lack of discipline, coupled with multiple injuries, surely played their part in the rather underwhelming prime and development of his talent.

Another supposedly talented, Norwegian kid I've never heard of. I get the Thiago fanboy-ism, and maybe it's just me, but legally changing your name to that of someone you idolize is pretty damn cringe. Maybe he'll be a future Barca flop
