That's why I would aboslutely be for instating a threshold of, say, 10 cm. (players are rarely at top speed in these moments)
If the system calculates the offside as less then 10cm, it's not offside. That way, you properly incorporate the principle of "in doubt for the attacker" into the technological application

Right, Raheem has been clocked at that fast, but that's not what offside usually looks like.

20cm might be a bit large, but somewhere from 10-20 is fair and should be included in the analysis.

Anyone that goes "well you're just moving the line, we're still gonna get marginal offside calls", yeah, obviously. However, you can live with someone being a hair over the 15cm margin of error line, as opposed to being a hair over some weird, arbitrary, unscientific, best guess of when the ball was played and where a players armpit exists, which is what we have now
