The Mandalorian

Has anyone else started watching this? It's on the new Disney app. I started it last week they have 5 episodes surprising it's been pretty good so far.

You should watch it if you get the chance I thought it's been pretty good they way the main character upgrades his armor looks like Monster hunter stuff

The show is very good. I think the main plot will probably frustrate people though the Mandalorian lore that hovers around the background is fascinating.

Rick Famuyiwa's episode is probably my favorite of the bunch so far.

Would this appeal to somebody that has never seen Star Wars?

It's leaned in hard on the spaghetti western vibe so I think if newcomers are into that, I think they might like it.

It isn't super heavy on references to the movies so that's a plus as well.

Ok Taika Waititi's episode, the latest one that came out this morning, has probably topped Famuyiwa's for me.

Anyway, seeing the remnants of the Empire is very interesting.

This whole show is fanfiction but done right. Think about it. The whole show is structured like a RPG video game, live action rendition of beloved animated characters, popular fancasting like Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka and Timothy Olyphant as a marshall, animated voice actor being cast as live action version, Boba Fett coming back from the dead, Gus Fring as villain, Luke Skywalker in his prime.

Its is by far the best Star Wars thing since Disney took over. I hope all the other shows are as good as this is. Pretty sure this is all leading up to a big show or movie with Thrawn as the villain.

I absolutely loved it.

Also, M99, thinking about Thrawn, it's like 20 years since I read the Thrawn trilogy but I'm pretty sure they could mostly just film it as it was written, just give the Luke parts to Ahsoka, and the Leia parts to Luke, with a bit of fudging it.
Or, you know, make up something new.

If you watched Rebels you'll know Ezra Bridger will be heavily involved in whatever Thrawn is in.

Not a big fan of star wars, this is probably my favorite star wars "thing"

Truth of the matter is that I don't have the heart to deny this content to my kid just because of Walt Disney being an anti-Semitic fascist over half a century ago. I educated her on it and let her make her own decisions on whether she wants to watch this stuff. She loved these movies and shows when she was younger, but could care less about them as a teen. Not because of what I educated her on, but because it just doesn't hold her interest anymore.

I have similar feelings about the Ford brand given just how much of a racist anti-Semite Henry Ford was.

This does raise a good topic that I think would be worth discussing in the Political Correctness thread though.
