The Podcast Thread
Probably one of the hottest new mediums out there for entertaining oneself so figured it deserves its own thread.
For me, I'll divide them up by what interests me:
Football
RomaPress Podcast - John Solano
Calcioland - David Amoyal
CalcioCast - Kay Murray and Matteo Bonetti
The Serie A Show - Chloe Beresford, John Solano and Nima Tavalley
Politics / Social Issues / Current Events
Pod Save America - Jon Favreau (not the actor/director), Jon Lovett, Dan Pfeiffer and Tommy Vietor
Pod Save The People - DeRay McKesson, Brittany Packnett, Sam Sinyangwe, and Clint Smith
Pod Save the World - Tommy Vietor and Ben Rhodes
Why Is This Happening? - Chris Hayes
What a Day - Akilah Hughes and Gideon Resnick
NPR Politics Podcast - Various NPR Reporters
History / Mythology
The History of Rome - Mike Duncan
The History of Byzantium - Robin Pierson
Revolutions - Mike Duncan
Let's Talk About Myths, Baby! - Liv Albert
Assassinations - Kate Leonard & Bill Thomas
Mythology - Vanessa Richardson
I'm currently listening to Revolutions, which as the name implies tracks the major revolutions throughout history. So far, the English, American, French, Haitian and Mexican revolutions have been covered. In addition, the South American Wars for Independence, The July Revolution of 1830 and Revolutions of 1848 have also been covered. The current episodes are covering the Russian Revolution. Super enthralling podcast and Mike Duncan does such a thorough job of research each event, the causes, the people involve and the impact they had.
What are you guys listening to these days? Where do you like to listen? Any recommendations?

Re: The Podcast Thread
Might as well mention The Joe Rogan Experience as he's got one of the go to podcasts in the US. I listen in from time to time, especially when he's got a guest from a field I'm interested in.

Re: The Podcast Thread
I never expected podcasts to get so huge. Maybe its because people spend too much on their smartphones and are craving actually having a conversation?
I exclusively listen to podcasts where comedians are the hosts:
King and The Sting (Theo Von & Brendan Schaub)
TigerBelly (Bobby Lee)
This Past Weekend (Theo Von)
Joe Rogan Experience
H3 Podcast (Ethan Klein)
YourMomsHousePodcast (Tom Segura & Christina P)
Whiskey Ginger (Andrew Santino)
The Fighter and The Kid (Brendan Schaub & Bryan Callen)
Monday Morning Podcast (Bill Burr)
I'll update the list in case I forgot somebody or I stumble upon a new one.

Re: The Podcast Thread
A buddy at work told me to check out that Bill Burr podcast. His stand up is top notch so that's one I'll be looking at.
Have tried the Joe Rogan Experience on a few occasions, but it's not for me.

don't really consume on podcasts tbh, would much rather surf around on YouTube. Used to listen to RadioLab back in my late high school days, don't know if they exist anymore

More of a commute/cleaning etc. thing for me. I never really listen to podcast while doing stuff on my computer.

can't afford to do it here in Johannesburg while commuting, you're just displaying yourself to be a marker for petty theft by having your earphones in

Busy around the house I'd put music on. Oh and i forgot actually there's this one on music - Dissect Podcast that's really good. The guy has analysed Kendrick, Kanye, Frank Ocean, Lauryn Hill and Tyler the Creator albums thus far and he just started out a few years ago, still growing he is being supported by Spotify now.

Re: The Podcast Thread
I mainly listen to podcasts about film and pop culture.
I love some of The Ringers stuff like The Big Picture (Oscar/Film podcast with frequent interviews with directors, which I find really great).
Binge Mode - They went through each episode of GoT, each Harry Potter book and movie, and now they're doing Star Wars. I find the two hosts to be incredibly dedicated, they study a lot and give great additional information and perspectives to texts that most of fandom know a lot about.
Laker Film Room podcast - best Lakers content around imo. They're knowledgeable and not hugely biased. They can criticise the team when they play bad etc. I often find team-based commentary to be so biased it becomes unlistenable and this is a good balance. They never let bias cloud their judgment, but still find time to shit on the Clippers and Celtics, which I always will appreciate.
The Rewatchables - Great movie podcast from The Ringer where various hosts break down well known movies in a humoristic way. They discuss the most rewatchable scene, which supporting actor delivers the wildest performance and talk about would-be-casting that didn't come to be. Probably my favourite podcast out there.
For general movie discussion I find Fighting in the War Room to be great. I really like the collection of hosts since they offer a lot of different perspectives and each of the hosts fit their own distinct movie-buff archetype.

Re: The Podcast Thread
They replced radio. Perfect for commuting, getting around, and doing small stuff in the house.
At the moment the 3 I listen to most are
Stuff you should know (my favorite)
Joe Rogan Experience
Monday morning podcast (bull burr)
Burt's was by far my favorite in the past but its gotten stale lately. Way too much talk about American sports and outright complaining, still will stick with it for a while to see if he turns it around.

The History of Rome is a masterpiece of podcasting. I think you'll like Revolutions as well. Similar format and approach. I picked up Duncan's book the Storm before the Storm as well. Going to give that a listen on Audible at some point next year. He's currently living in Paris, researching his next book on the Marquis de Lafayette. Dude's my history buff spirit animal.

Stuff You Should Know is on my list of podcasts to start next year once I finish Revolutions. It's been on my list for a while now actually, but that's because I've binged like 100+ episodes of Revolutions though over the last 3 months.

I'm a fan of Revolutions as well, although I stopped right before the incoming Russian one. Will need to pick that back up at some point. Particularly enjoyed the Haiti and Bolivar editions (mostly because I was quite ignorant of them before so it was mostly new content).
Still, THOR hits another itch entirely.
