Deserved 2-0 lead for Sassuolo. They've looked fantastic.

Cristante is the weak link in midfield. Sassuolo are cutting through him with ease. We need Diawara back ASAP.

We've lost the plot entirely. Sassuolo have completely rattled these guys. Even Fonseca is stunned.

And there's already grumbling about Fonseca out in the Romaverse.....you can't make this shit up....

This will be literally our 2nd away loss of the season and people are acting like Fonseca is Garcia reborn.

I swear I hate how fickle this fanbase is. We complain about the players having a loser mentality, but the fans have it too.

I have no clue what Fonseca can say to these guys in the locker room to get them to turn this around. I'm not sure there are even words for it. That 1st half was the worst of his tenure so. De Zerbi very clearly did his homework and his side are reaping the benefits.

Cristante and Mancini in particular have had shocking displays. One needs to be hooked and the other needs a kick up the ass.

Spinazzola has been our best player this half and that's not saying anything at all given both goals came down his flank.

Somehow, Fonseca will need to find a way to motivate these guys. The game is probably already lost, but we can still salvage some pride and make them earn their win.

Sassuolo can't defend and they can bottle every scenario

They may not be able to defend, but with a Dzeko starved of service, and Pellegrini on a milk carton, Cristante and Veretou not able to find another white shirt around them along with Kluivert and Under seeming not to know where the goal is, we're not going to be of much danger to that defense.

it's not only on the players, its also on Fonseca. This game is getting played as Roma falling exactly in Sassuolo's traps. Roma are pushing all so high, leaving way too much space for counters, which Sassuolo is performing perfectly.

Locatelli is dominating the midfield. With Roma's incoherent midfield today and the lines pushed up so high, they just get blown apart every time Sassuolo takes the ball.

Boga, Toljan, Berardi and Locatelli are playing their perfect matches so Djuricic and Caputo get golden chances every time a counter breaks.

Then Smalling, Mancini and Santon are getting schooled when they find themselves running towards their own goal. The game is passing Smalling by as he wasn't there, while Santon just gets destroyed in the flank.

No arguments there. Fonseca got it all wrong in that first half.

He's hooked Santon for Peres so that's helped a bit. His HT talk appears to have woken everyone up too. Got a goal back. Sassuolo haven't gotten a sniff at Lopez since the restart as well.

We should be at 3-2 now, but Dzeko just shanked an open chance.

Spinazzola has looked angry all match, perhaps because of the failed transfer, or how his team is disappointing him. Anyway he is playing the best out there so at least maybe this gives him focus to show his best

Smalling Toljan just runs straight through without even dribbling, just a straight run at a normal pace and somehow he doesn't get followed and gets tons of space. Caputo really should have scored that for the 4-1

Pellegrini off for a very stupid challenge. There's been so many today. Sassuolo are rightfully milking them as well.

I think that's probably killed off our comeback.

And now we have a penalty. Handball from Boga.

Bruno Peres has been excellent in this 2nd half. Saved a certain goal and has now won us a penalty.

Veretout scores then Boga runs down Peres' flank and scores another for Sassuolo. Dude only scores bangers apparently. Fantastic hit.

Great match honestly though we're getting our asses kicked.

Fonseca, as always, has work to do with this side. I trust him though. He'll figure it out.

agreed! roma was just way too exposed... and thing is everytime cristante plays in midfield without any holding or defensive midfielder, Roma is bound get caught badly..

either cristante or veretout should play with some defensive midfielder, not both and i think that was one of the big reasons why conceded

if midfield is a bit depleted ... i m still up to see mancini in midfield XD he was insanely good and roma barely conceded

yea u guys need a holding midfielder like diwara to marshall the midfield...

i dont think he was even scored one free kick goal at milan... not even shot on target if i recall correctly in this 3 seasons...

Eriksen is good at setting up... but is not good in directly scoring fk..
he can guarantee assists that is for sure... so u guys now have proper assist man.. and a proper ball / possession dictating man in brozovic...
