Capello should insult Zaniolo more. Instant reaction from the youngster, who has been in something of a sophomore slump this season.

I am rather enjoying Zaniolo under Fonseca even if he has been inconsistent but this wide inside forward role on the right must cease even if he combines splendidly with Dzeko.

Smalling has been a rock in the back ever since he became a starter, bar some odd glances of concentration. Assured performance by Roma so far.

I'm not watching the match currently due to work so just following along on Roma twitter, but apparently Veretout is having another standout game as well. Personally, I think he's been the best player of the Fonseca era. Certainly my favorite of these new signings. He's a near perfect hybrid of Nainggolan and Strootman. Controlled ferocity combined with some excellent technique and an ability to put in a really gritty shift defensively.

Admittedly I never rated Veretout in his Fiorentina days particularly due to the fact that he never stood out for me but I am learning that he is the type to excel with more technical quality around him and a system like Fonseca's that does not demand such workman like qualities as his years in Fiorentina did.

So far he adds just the right quantity of balance Roma's midfield have needed and drags them forward superbly.

Also, related to Zaniolo on the wing....100% agree. When he gets going on a run, he is very hard to stop though so that's a plus. There are 2 problems I have with him playing wide though:

- He's too far away from the action for me. He's very much a collaborative player and his best work comes from interplay with striker in front of him and the pivot behind him.

- When he builds up a head of steam on one of those unstoppable runs down the flank, he's not really making the right decisions. Until he can display better decision-making, I'm just not a fan of him there.

Lazio were the more dominant team but their midfield is so frequently bypassed and their finishing bar the obvious man is so astoundingly poor they have only themselves to blame but MOTM by far is Forster who really had a beautiful performance tonight.
