Parents bought me a turquoise GBC and Pokemon blue on my birthday or for christmas. Looking at the release date it had to have been xmas.
literally everyone was playing it. I used to stay up way later than I was supposed to, playing it under my bedcover.
No idea how many hours I put into the game, but yeah, this would definitely be in my top 5. Probably number 1.
I actually had Pokemon Gold not long after Blue, some guy moved onto my street that was my age and he had a Japanese copy of Gold, I traded my version of Blue with a glitched Mew for it. Bad move considering the language barrier cause me to quit after like 3 hrs.
I also bought a cheat engine for the gameboy and would sell hacked pokemon to kids at school for £2 a pop. Made like 100 quid as a 9 year old before the teachers found out and told my parents.

Re: Top 5 Nostagic Games
remember being hella jealous that my best friend had this gameboy
and I was stuck with this
but yeah, undoubtedly if we're talking nostalgia, Pokemon is number 1. it was massive. Went to see the movies, watched the cartoon/anime, collected the cards and played the game(s)
strangely the phase only lasted about 2 years from Blue to Silver, for me personally. Got bored of it then.

Re: Top 5 Nostagic Games
I've never played Pokemon games, perhaps why it was on other platforms ? Just PS for me.
But you made me remember another game for PS1, Dragonball Z, and it was so hyped in that period
Me too to play on this game for many hours, and especially I remember my joy when I was capable to unblock various characters because of a gimmick through keys combination

Re: Top 5 Nostagic Games
speaking of dragonball Z
I remember in WH SMITH (UK store that used to sell everything from pencil cases to games) I was eyeing this one game up for MONTHS
for whatever reason, parents wouldn't let me get it. I don't remember why.
Like, every time I would go through the shop (which was in my local shopping centre/mall) I'd go make sure this game was still there.
dunno how old I was but wiki says the game released in June 2002 so I was 12 I guess. I remember telling my parents I was going shopping for back to school supplies, including a backpack etc with my friend and his Mum.
Parents gave me money, I jumped on the bus solo and went and bought this instantly. Felt guilty AF. I even had to go back to school first week with my old backpack (classic Nike Air chav backpack) and then lied and said the straps broke so I threw it away and my parents bought me another one.
It wasn't even worth it. That's the saddest thing. I absolutely remember thinking the game was complete garbage. ffs.
Going off-topic here but thought I'd share. I think that was the last gameboy game I ever played too.

Re: Top 5 Nostagic Games
oh and speaking of the PS1. I remember I loved mine and my cousin and his friends were obsessed with the N64, Mario etc. Trying to get me hyped for it. And I was never interested in the slightest. Thought it looked corny AF and I was like 7-8 at the time and still watched teenage mutant ninja turtles ffs.
My uncle eventually gave me an N64 as a gift and I did play Zelda Ocarina of Time but to this day it remains the only N64 game besides Goldeneye that I ever tried. Never been a Nintendo guy. Even the Gameboy was just a pokemon machine.

I had a Nintendo 64. The Mario game that came with it was great, and so were every single one of my other games on that console: Golden Eye, Perfect Dark and Zelda: Majora's Mask, just off the top of my head.
My most nostalgic video game is probably the first game I ever played, which was Sonic, the hedgehog on Sega (Genesis, I think). I also recall renting two games that I played on a friend's Super Nintendo - Power Rangers and TMNT. I was completely hooked on both of those games. Can't pick a top 5, but I've played most of the games that have already been mentioned on here. Oh, yeah.. Final Fantasy 7-9 were really, really amazing the first time I played through them. It's hard to imagine today, that those 3 games used to be far ahead of their time in terms of graphics and pre-rendered animation sequences.

yes, you had already some good Iss pro Evolution, but it is through this WE that you change direction definitely towards PES
In fact I've Fifa 98 world cup , Fifa 99 , Fifa 2000 ( very nice this too , it had even Classic squads) but I've stopped with Fifa after this WE.
P.S. Ah, the old Fifa soundtrack were nice too, other times

So true, Fifa had the soundtracks, WE 2000 had Ronaldo, Vieri and Recoba, this is in fact how I started supporting Inter.

Re: Top 5 Nostagic Games
Pokemon Crystal
Golden Sun
Runescape
Marvel vs Street Fighter (+ variants)
Going back to really young;
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - Could never get past stage 3 when I was 5 years old. Replayed it when older on emulator and didn't realize how easy it was.
Alex the Kidd - again, got stuck on last stage when young. Replayed in years later and finally finished it. Much easier when you have save slates unlike on Sega when unable to to save ever.
The Incredible Machine
Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego - I do remember this. Manly from the cartoon and song. The game is actually really really easy.
God I love emulators and being able to replay old games.

Re: Top 5 Nostagic Games
My friend was addicted to that, stayed over his house one night, woke up at like 3AM, saw him sitting on his PC fishing on Runescape. Tried to get me into it but I always thought it looked like garbage.
He had a GameBoy Advance and I remember always thinking Golden Sun looked really good. I kinda regret that I didn't really care about gaming at that point in time because the GBA looked to have some amazing RPG's.
