Re: "The Gentleman's game"- Cricket
Lol didnt see such a final coming.
Excellent from Newzealand first of all. When the whole cricket world were ridiculing them for their slow batting, when our arrogant players and fans were already thinking about Rohit Sharma's next 100, NZ just did a sweet number on us.
A tight and much needed slap on the arrogance of BCCI and thundercnuts like Ravi Shastri.
And England actually managing to thrash Australia in a WC semi Unreal stuff. Congrats to you Englishmen on GL.
Hope the final will be a cracker with NZ winning it. However ya, cant' see anything other than English triumph. The pitch will definitely be flat for the final.

Eventually. Toss delayed, game will start 30 mins later.
Groundsman are concerned about a couple of damp spots on the pitch after some rain this morning.
Looking like a bowl first kind of day.

New Zealand win the toss and will bat first.
Bat first has been the way to go in this tournament. Anything around 250 will be a difficult chase, especially under pressure.
Both teams unchanged from the semi-finals.

Re: "The Gentleman's game"- Cricket
Guptill reviewing a plum LBW came back to haunt NZ, as expected. Both Dharmasena and Erasmus with poor decisions so far.
I'm still seeing around 250 as a good score in these conditions.

Excellent bowling so far. Pitch has been so weird all tournament. From the talks of teams making 400 to teams struggling for 250
1 boundary in like 15 overs ffs

Re: "The Gentleman's game"- Cricket
It's been muggy and raining a decent amount during the tournament, so the pitches have had moisture in them rather than end up completely lifeless.
Also, Plunkett is playing a blinder in his last World Cup game. I remember seeing this guy debut in 2007 ffs.

Re: "The Gentleman's game"- Cricket
If those five wides end up costing us the World Cup
We've restricted New Zealand's scoring off the bat but have given them about 10 wides in the last few overs.

Under 250 is great man. I trust our batting to comfortably score that.
But yea, 30 extras is a bit too much...

Re: "The Gentleman's game"- Cricket
242 to win.
30 extras is ridiculous. Could have gotten them out for 220.
The wicket is slowing, there's plenty there for the bowlers and we're going to be under pressure. Won't be an easy chase by any means.
If Bairstow and Roy stay patient and see off the early spell, though, I'll be confident of winning it. If Boult and Henry take three early wickets it'll be hard.

Re: "The Gentleman's game"- Cricket
Opening partnership of at least 80-10 runs would be ideal.

Roy saved from a first ball duck by millimetres. Thank god for umpire's call.
Not gonna lie, that looked 100% out.

Re: "The Gentleman's game"- Cricket
At this point it's quite obvious that England just need to play the 50 overs. Run rate isn't important. Need to survive Ferguson in the middle overs.

Re: "The Gentleman's game"- Cricket
3 runs scored from the last 24 balls
242 looks an eternity away. We aren't going to be smashing these guys for fours and sixes. Need to start rotating the strike.
