I remember some analyst reporting that all of these big clubs are turning a nice profit too. It makes sense, the big clubs all have the infrastructure all they need to do is pay wages, plus the wages are nothing compared to what the men are on.

People? Only ONE poster talked about it. Just one. It's TMO. Also, that won't distract me from the fact it took Real Madrid this long to make a women's team. It's pretty embarrassing to say the least.

Anyway, we really will be behind. Just looked it up and Barca have had a womens team since 1988. I would hope RM would want to make up for lost time by making some really good appointments/signings. Ada Hegerberg would be great, she would be a true marquee RM-esque signing. Of course I'm extremely partial toward Vivianne Miedema. She would be the top of my list, but maybe we could get both?

I agree that it's pretty embarrassing. Barca already have a great women's team, and so do many other, top clubs. It kind of gives you the impression that we simply jumped on the hype train after seeing it succeed at other clubs. Some would probably argue that there's nothing wrong with that, but it's not a good look.

Women's Sports are still pretty irrelevant worldwide. Aside from Women's Tennis, the UFC, and Golf, majority of people still care fck-all about Women in competitive sports. This is slowly changing but the point being is that Madrid has nothing to be "embarrassed" about considering sociological contexts. This might be hard to grasp if you're a snowflake.

As much as I agree that it's not comparable to the men's side of things, it evidently does bring in money to a club. We both know that the people who pull the strings at RM probably don't care much for it, and I doubt Barcelona do either, but for an institution that cares as much about keeping up appearances as Real Madrid, I really don't think our late inclusion in this market looks good. It's not a big deal, but it makes our board look like the capitalistic bastards they probably are

Okay, honestly, I don't think I'll ever watch them play or even check out the highlights. Same goes for Tennis and many other sports where the male talent is far superior and more entertaining.

However, I stand for their right to have a football team and compete at the highest level just like men do. So to the news of Madrid launching a female team I say about time!

Regardless if you watch women's football this is a win from a financial and marketing standpoint. Perez finally sees money signs that womens football now have. Extra revenue is always fantastic.
