I dont see Van De Beek coming here. He doesnt offer more than an Isco or Asensio. Honestly I am really happy with the signings as they are, we need to trim some fat out of the team and we are good to go. Its possible that we recoup more than 200 mill this transfer window the way our transfers out are going. Already got back 100 mill from Kova and Llorente transfers. Another 25 mill from RDT, and still need around 10 more transfers/loans. Reguilon will find a solid loan, so will Odegaard(though I would like to keep him for a season) and Theo will be sold. Overall the team has shaped up well

Isco and asensio offer next to nothing and their not team players, don't know much you guys need to see before just being honest, those guys and ceballos want to do is flukey dribbling and take nonsense shots zero creativity, instead trying to pass the buck to benzema/kroos open your eyes and take a good look what these players are doing on the pitch.

Vinicius and Rodrygo registered with Castilla and kubo with juvenil to go around the non-EU rule, it's not about the number of players  in the squad mate.

Militao, Casemiro and Valverde are the non EU guys if the first team. Valverde hasn't gottent his paperwork done yet.

If this is the extent of the revamping we all have been asking for ( i.e. no new midfielder coming and Bale staying), then one has to ask why wasn’t it done a year ago. They have added a star forward to replace Ronaldo, have added legit challengers to Benzema, Marcelo, Varane/Ramos as well as Bale. We do know that Zidane doesn’t want Bale, but with his contract and his attitude, it is what it is.

It seems to me Zidane is hoping on a rebound season for a lot of squad; Kroos, Modric, those being pushed as noted above plus Isco and Asensio. It baffles me why they think the midfield issues will go away with just one addition, let alone not having a plan B. Latest rumor is Atletico may go for Eriksen!

There will be a battle for RW between Asensio and Vinicius and in future Rodrygo, Brahim and Kubo, which hopefully doesn’t get derailed with Bale’s presence

Nonsense, the last time we did a major revamping, we borrowed 600M using Ronaldo and Kaka as collateral. Much the way Barca are currently doing. The issues are

1. Flo doesn’t want to spend what ManU are asking (and I btw agree with him). And I question that even if we do sell Isco, James and / or Bale, whether Flo would then pay what ManU are asking.

2. There is no plan B. We lost out on Ndombele and now probably Eriksen. I unlike what Chad is suggesting did not believe entire midfield needed changing (it was you btw), but I do believe we need to change at least one of the starters.

But other than the midfield I do agree with the rest of the squad, except Bale.

My point in the post earlier today, was twofold.

1. Couldn’t these changes have been done last season?

2. Zidane is counting on return to form of Kroos, Modric, Isco and Asensio, plus is hoping for the veterans (Varane, Ramos, Benzema, Marcelo) are sufficiently motivated by their challengers and then that one of the kids Vinicius, Asensio, Rodrygo become a solid starter. - that’s a lot of faith, hope and charity on a very poor performing team (under all 3 coaches) from last season.

@bill, to answer your question, we couldnt make any changes at all last year because we needed to be embarrassed, lose 3 titles in one week, and barely score against a side in the top 4 for us to realize change has to happen

@Bill.  Look at the financials.  We were at a 100 mil working capital deficit last season and 190 mil cash in the bank.

Just a very illiquid time at Real Madrid.  IF we borrow big, we then need to shed wages and bring down the working capital deficit so that we can afford the extra interest payments.  

I spent some time looking at the annual report last season and it made me realize that we're not in a position in the immediate term to spend.  Just cannot unless we borrow quite a bit.

I partially agree with you Sports. Above everything else Perez is a smart businessman. The papers you have examined reflects the concentration and investment in stadium renovation over past couple of years. He has told socios we have little debt other than the loc for stadium which will easily be paid once new stadium sponsorship is in place. He has said before there will be 300M available for purchases. I assume that is the 100M you have found plus the anticipated sales. All that said though he could go to the bank for more if he thinks it’s the right player as he has done before and as Barca are currently doing. My personal belief is he isn’t convinced Pogba is the right player at the price ManU is asking.

I think it's more a wage issue than the fee for Pogba... given the working capital deficit. We can't add such a significant annual wage without shedding another big one.

I honestly think that selling Bale opens the door for Pogba even if there's little to no fee.

I think Zidane wasn't happy about the game yesterday because there are still too many players in the team he wants to get rid off, and his midfield target(s) are not in yet. The point of preseason is to prepare your new team not to play deadweight players to make the numbers. I would wager he was a bit frustrated yesterday and just decided to rip Bale and his agent a new one.
