Is something wrong with the training by Zidane & co.

Already we have had Asensio, Hazard, Jovic, Mendy, James, Isco, Brahim, Rodrygo?

Pre season was the problem. Starting playing top teams in "competitions" is not good for anyone.

We should've played shit teams and built up form before going into intensive games. Playing against top teams from the start you basically have to push yourself 100%, and when you're not fit it will result in muscle injuries.

It didn't get much publicity when Zidane dismissed Pintus, the training coach and brought in fellow Frenchman, Gregory Dupont. Reportedly he was part of the French world cup success.

It turn out since he arrived in charge of training on July 8th there have been 10 muscle related injuries affecting 7 players!

That's 10 injuries in just a month and a half. Surely this is not coincidental!

A lot of the guys who are injured also are not known for outstanding work ethic, sometimes it's not necessarily the fault of the coaches.

But Nick with that number' it's not just a couple of players, this trainer has to have some accountability for it!!!

and have you noticed it's 10 injuries and just 7 players. That means at least 3 of them have already have already been injured twice! That suggests, they are allowing them back too soon. That's not on the players it's the trainer and medical staff!

Yeah but you are also talking about players who play for Madrid and when asked if they feel ready they will always say yes.

I'm just saying there are injuries with guys who have questionable work ethic like Isco , Hazard, James, that inflate the number of injured players

Meanwhile you have 20 other guys who are doing just fine

Dupont has a rep for pushing players towards maximum athleticism...  the pre-WC camp was gruesome.  Griezmann even mentioned that it was harder than any training he ever did at Atleti and Simeone is known to run very hard training.  The players looked very lethargic in the pre-WC prep games in fact, which worried a lot of people.

The idea is that, although you pay the price early...  it pays off when everyone gets in line.  90 mins games become easy.  France NT benefited immensely in the 2nd halves of games by being so fit, especially defensively.

I thought it was a very good move to hire him.  The guys who are out of shape and/or who don't train hard aren't going to survive though.

Yeah, I reckon most of our players doesn't actually take full care of their bodies outside the scope of training. We can blame the medical team or fitness instructor or Zidane but I think at this point, players need to be held accountable.

Klopp's team play a very intensive style of play and yet, they tend to stay relatively fit for the better part of the season. We are barely into the any demanding part of the season and men already have muscle injuries.

Basically, Sports is right, guys who are "out of shape" or don't take care of their body would be having a very difficult time to which, we'll be having a difficult time.

We are talking about this Real Madrid squad who have been together for umpteen years now. There are elderly, unmotivated and supposedly know what to do on their own. They aren’t exactly suited to new ideas!

It’s ok if you don’t want to blame this trainer and put it all on the players, but with Zidane’s insistence of same old, you have to wonder why a tough trainer would work with this crew

for the last 10 or 11 years, real madrid players getting injured should not be news at all. last year players got injured, the excuse we came up with was it was because of the world cup. every other year, we see posts about some medical staff that was hired and analysis from whatever sources about their methodologies, yet players get injured en masse yet again

i have always said part of it, a huge part, is down to work ethic, lifestyle and players' nutrition. constant change of staff surely cannot be productive either. but yeah injuries shouldn't be news when it comes to madrid

Not entirely accurate. I remember the number of injuries dropped dramatically when Zidane hired that Pintus guy (I believe his full name is Antonio Pintus, but I'm not sure).

He stayed on even after Zidane resigned but was let go this summer when Zidane returned. Marca claims that they had a dispute or something.

The last rumor I read about him was that he was joining Conte at Inter.

Also, I agree with those who say that the fitness coach isn't the one to be blamed (at least not entirely).

Some players simply don't take care of themselves the way a professional athlete should. Look at Ronaldo; he stayed with us for 9 nine years and he rarely got injured.

This is not meant to completely dissociate the medical team from blame btw, but our players should really meet them halfway and do their part as well.

Tito, how dare you put this all on players! And no it isn’t the same as last year. We’ve never had 10 injuries in just a month and a half.

Well Tito, you got your wish, a coach given charge of signings! It is his decision to stay with set lineup!

And look at the result - same old, but with an improved bench!

Already there is talk about Zidane leaving, possibly before season is over!

Maybe you should revise your wish to a coach in charge willing to clear out the majority of incumbents and truly revamp team.
