So Pelicans ownership wants Demps fired and another GM to take over the trade negotations. They're furious that AD left yesterday.

I'm confused by everything here. Didn't she block any trade until the summer? And now she's upset with the GM who was not allowed to make a trade?

That's just them twisting the public image.

Basically, he barely was involved with the Lakers trade negotiations to begin with. He was a lame duck GM from the outset.

The plan always was to overhaul the front office and have a new GM handle the AD trade and thus the future.

Using the AD stuff is just an easy excuse for them.

would explain the news that he wanted the Lakers trade but never was allowed, or close to allowed to accept it.

Both Harden and Antetokoumpo are deserving of the mvp title, fans shouldn't get too worked up about who wins it.


Re: Pelicans, well, maybe the ownership wasn't happy with how the negotiations with LA seemed to turn sour pretty bad. I can't imagine that AD leaving the stadium gets the GM fired.

I should say though despite that I'm sure they were pissed regardless, Gentry certainly didn't hide his anger.

I basically agree with this.

My critique of what transpired in NOP is that HC Alvin Gentry was left to clean up the AD trade drama before and after games. Thought that the front office should have addressed the situation with the media/fans and been more transparent. Instead, this snowballed for a week.

People talk about Harden not having any help but can you really say the same about Giannis?

Don't get me wrong, with the additions the Bucks have made, they've created a squad identity and they've managed to get players who buy in and are good value. And they have depth. Bucks don't have any really bad players getting minutes. And Bledsoe and Middleton are both great players. Brook has given a lot from the center position.

But it's clear the whole is greater than the sum of its parts with this team.

Giannis's teammates consist of two fringe all stars in a conference extremely lacking in star power. Actually, just one fringe all-star since Bledsoe didn't make it. Then he's got Brook who is not the player he used to be (although he's better for it in terms of what the Bucks want from him) and Brogdon. Brogdon is a great guard and would be a good starter for many teams, but he never makes the all star game.

He has help, but none of those players are stars. I say this as someone who loves all those players and would like to see all of them resigned. The rest of the team? Filled out with players like Sterling Brown, Tony Snell, DJ Wilson, Ersan Ilyasova, Pat Connaughton. It's awesome Bucks will be able to add Mirotic because he does give the bucks a little more firepower.

The last two games without Giannis the bucks lost to the Wizards away and Orlando at home.

Giannis is the reason the Bucks are #1 in the East and overall. The only reason his numbers aren't better are because the Bucks blow teams out and he stops playing in the fourth.

Harden has been amazing and he deserves to be in the conversation. PG too. But sorry, it's Giannis's to lose. What he does on the offensive end and defensive end...this year he's made another step up. Finally, the team has risen to match him.
