Re: 2018 / 2019 season prediction
Odriozola's name popping up, i don't know if i agree with this considering we have Nacho and Hakimi and what it means for the latter. Hakimi could become a good option for both RB and LB situations, maybe like a more physical Arbeloa but looks like Perez wants Spanish names in the team. Also have to keep an eye on Theo's evolution, i am not too optimistic with him.

Re: 2018 / 2019 season prediction
Kalimi is no where close to being ready MTO. We need not only a competent backup to Carvajal, but competition as well. If there is one thing we have seen in past 2 years is that Dani plays best with competition and gets complacent when there isn’t and he is injury prone.
Nacho is good as an option, both sides if injuries occur plus he is at this point is a solid #3 CB.

Is this Odriozola guy better than Achraf ? I don't see the reason of giving up on our young RB for another young RB that costs 40m+. We could use that funds elsewhere

Odriozola is 10x the player Achraf is! Have you even watched him?

Re: 2018 / 2019 season prediction
Sports, Nick,
There are stories out today that Perez wants one of Mbappe or Neymar, but are treading carefully not to upset PSG. Apparently FFP is still very much in play and the feeling is at the right moment, they may be interested and possibly Ronaldo could play a part (either by going to PSG or being sold with that income used in PSG sale). Now this may be for this year, but also might be for next summer!
What do you guys think? Is there any validity to this at all?

No chance. No, let me rephrase that: no chance in hell.
Neymar is not coming to Madrid. Better make your peace with it, Bill.

Re: 2018 / 2019 season prediction
that's what i have been hearing for weeks now, that we are trying to sign one of those two. Financial Fairplay plays a part in pressuring PSG as well.futbol_bill wrote:Sports, Nick,

ideally you would sign Mbappe or Neymar + 1 or 2 other stars to replace Ronaldo.
There is that french journalist that announced the Mbappe deal, but the club denied which is normal. and few days before TVE with Neymar.
I think it's safe to assume that we are working to make something happen because the timing would not be so bad to sell Cristiano.

A lot better. Achraf has quite a bit of catching up to do if this signing turns out to be official.
Re: Neymar/Mbappe
For the latter, the club should have paid him the salary he wanted and saved themselves this headache of having to negotiate with PSG but Madrid won't be Madrid if they chose the simpler option. Could see the club with more of a chance with Neymar than Mbappe oddly enough.
That being said, very very low chance we get either of them.

If Ronaldo goes to Juventus (still strange to hear), I think Perez definitely goes after one of Neymar, Mbappe, or Kane- though all of them seem fairly impossible.

Re: 2018 / 2019 season prediction
Does anyone think if Brazil win the WC, Perez will go for Neymar, if France win he will go for Mbappe, and if England win he will go for Kane?
It would be very pre-Zidane of Perez, and if that really is the case I'd be the biggest French fan of all time.

Re: 2018 / 2019 season prediction
Don’t think it really matters. He will take any one of the three, all depends on who he can get. None will be easy.
I’ve been reading up a bit on the kids.
Says Vinicius will be in training camp, but will likely spend next year back in Brasil, although he may return late next year for end of season after Brasil liga finishes.
Rodrygo is a year younger and will remain in Brasil this year.
Odeguaard not completely out of picture yet, will be loaned out again, this time likely to a liga team.
Lunin will likely be 3rd portero and likely play for Castilla as well.
Theo and Vallejo likely to stay with first team.
If Kovacic goes, Ceballos likely to stay (Backup to Modric)
Depending what happens up front, Asensio will likely be both a forward sub as well as backup to Isco.
Yesterday’s signing, Odriozola will be backup to Carvajal and will give him a challenge.
Gone are Llorente, Achraf and Mayoral.
What needs to be sorted out is exits of Bale, Benzema, Ronaldo!, plus who is coming in re forward line plus a backup striker. Also they will need backup midfielders both for Kroos and Casemiro.
And finally the outstanding question re portero! Given what we saw from De Gea, market price for Allison, previous errors of Courtois and resigning by Bilbao of Kepa, IMO, it’s best to stay with Navas for another year.

Re: 2018 / 2019 season prediction
I don't think Vinicius will or should stay, and whether or not Kovacic stays i don't think that keeping Ceballos offers us too much in terms of variables, would rather risk bringing in Valverde if we're talking about young prospects. As for the goalkeeper, i really do think Perez wants to bring in someone now and that it will likely be Courtois considering i believe his children live in Madrid and that Allison's price is too high.
As for Ronaldo, as mentioned by others already, he only leaves if Perez can get Neymar or Mbappe, and if he can then we might let go of Bale as well, otherwise all of BBC will probably stay and we might get a mature striker option. We might also go for a surprise midfielder pick by Lopetegui or something.

According to Onda Cero, Marcos Llorente was told by Lopetegui that he will be counted on next season, so he will stick around. Hopefully we see more from him as Casemiro back up.

Re: 2018 / 2019 season prediction
Ronaldo is gone. Madrid can't block him per certain promises Flo made when they negotiated (or Madrid refused CR's demands more accurately) early this past season. BUT, Flo gave him an exit strategy. He's keeping Flo to his word and Flo can't break it... whether we have a replacement or not.
Can you imagine the shit storm CR would create for Madrid and Lopotegui if we reneged? Season would be a disaster. It's not like ZZ where his status demands respect, even from CR. He neither respects nor gives a rat's arse about Lopotegui.
We expected a decline and acted accordingly. The decline didn't really happen. Doesn't change the path however.

Re: 2018 / 2019 season prediction
I feel like we only just got to see Ronaldo at his finest. Not so much with goals, he always scored but with his mentality and gamesmanship. From La Decima to now, this is the Ronaldo I really wished was playing since he came. Man, I honestly think we would won way more CL titles and definitely more La Liga titles with this version of Ronaldo.
Alas, if this is the end, well, it was a grand end. Three CL titles in a row with him playing an extremely crucial part.

Re: 2018 / 2019 season prediction
I feel we know most of next year’s lineup;
Navas?; Carvajal, Varane, Ramos, Marcelo; Casemiro, Kroos, Modric, Isco; ??, ??
And B team
Casiila; Odriozola, Nacho, Vallejo, Theo; Llorente, ??, Ceballos, Asensio; Lucas, ??
In other words, once we know the outcome of Ronaldo, Benz and Bale plus what forward new signings are coming, picture is complete except for will they change Navas and will Kovacic leave and who would benew MF?

Re: 2018 / 2019 season prediction
Zidane really fecked us. He could have at least told Perez about his plans before the CL final so he could get Poch.
Can't see anything other than failure for this Lopetegui guy, he'll most probably play Isco at all costs (and that shitty diamond), focus on scrub Spanish players who are clearly not good enough and his track record at club level is so bad.
The future looks sober as those young goons are nowhere near as good as the ones that won us so many trophies. Ramos, Marcelo, Modric (probably Kroos too) will need replacements in the next 2 years. We can't replace them with Ceballos Llorente and Theo hernandez and it seems we are not willing to pay (or can't, don't know) for quality.

Re: 2018 / 2019 season prediction
Zidane flopped last season in a pretty epic way. Winning the CL masked a lot of things but he was finished and his league results show that. I don't know why u think h fcked us lol. There is a need to rebuild and there is no way around that. Don't expect us to win the treble next season lol

Re: 2018 / 2019 season prediction
My point is to say that not everything was looking good for Zidane, despite winning the champions league. I think there is a clear understanding from many fans that the team had reached the end of its natural cycle.
There is little evidence to show that we would be in better shape with him looking ahead to the next season. Changes bring uncertainty so I understand why people would think like Valk.
But it's important to recognize that winning the CL in spite of the team form last season was extraordinary.
