Re: Luciano Spalletti Appreciation Thread
For years I have believed that Spalletti is one of the most underrated managers in this world. Considering how high I rate him Inter Milan should have finished no lower than 3rd but a place in UCL is still a commendable achievement for his very first year in charge of the club.

I could never blame Spalletti for it. He seemed to me to be doing the right thing and was simply a victim of the excessive adulation for Totti. All the more reason for me to support the idea of club legends leaving just before their time is up.

Absolutely. I agree 100%. This could've and would've happened to virtually any coach who left us that season. I agreed with his decision to minimize Totti's playing time as that's what was needed for the team. Had he not done that, Totti may have gotten injured and those points we picked up due to his last minute heroics would have been lost. Spalletti didn't deserve the vitriol that he got. He was quite fair to our players so that must be respected.

Re: Luciano Spalletti Appreciation Thread
Is he though? I thought Spalletti achieved all his objectives for the season apart from maybe qualifying from the CL group stage.
Re: Luciano Spalletti Appreciation Thread
For same reason why we've changed Mancini for Mourinho in 2008.
Mancini had won Scudetto but we wanted a qualitative leap.
That's the main reason and it's logic for a big club.
Then I could also say that we've regressed in last period under him ( in fact we got 4th place just on 81' of last matchday.. and we were the best 3rd team of the league on paper) , gamestyle was so worsened, his management of the roster is debatable on certain things ... the downward spiral was so evident that it's better to change in time , with a better manager too, rather than speaking on a sack at the beginning of season...

Spalletti is back.
Officially the new Napoli coach, a certain upgrade from Gattuso.
