Another reason why I really don't get this transfer bar the vanity behind it is that Griezmann plays best with another striker with him. Particularly one who can play with his back to goal, you know, like Diego Costa. I am sure Suarez can do that but Barca fans (not just Linetty surprisingly) want him sold so who is gonna be Griezmann's strike partner? Messi? Lol. It was no coincidence that Antoine's numbers went up after Costa arrived.

Seriously, the odd man out in any scenario is Dembele.

Suarez is not gonna agree to be some bench player after a very good season like this one and considering he is good friends with Lionel, doubt he'll be a bench player either. So if he is sold, Barcelona would be back to having 1 striker which is technically wrong. Alcacer is your back up which makes sense.

It's a vanity signing, love it. I miss those at Madrid.

Contrary to the general consensus here, I think Griezmann will thrive at Barcelona. But I just don't see how they could sign him without selling a high-profile player.

Their wage bill is already insanely high which is why I think Suarez will be sold if the Frenchman comes, unless the Uruguayan accepts a considerable pay-cut that is.

No one thinks he wouldn't thrive.

More that it's not necessary, would imbalance the team further if Suarez stays and doesn't really have a role which fits.

Seem like Barca are going with a 4-3-1-2, with Griezmann shifting into midfield while defending to make it a 4-4-2. Not sure how feasible that will be though.

Well, the early preview of that formation was against Levante and it didn't exactly pan out too well but it was with a bunch of bench warmers in defense so probably isn't a go to preview.

Nah, teams have to be balanced. I understand you are a fan but the cold,hard reality is that those 3 together will not work for pretty obvious reasons.

That's the only scenario where this transfer makes sense tbh. Dembele-Suarez-Grizzy is one hell of a front three.

Although of course Messi won't be sold lol and this will be comical

Why don't people think that Messi, Suarez, Dembele and Griezmann can be in the same team? Suarez is 31 and Dembele 20, it's not like they cannot come off the bench at times. And it's good to have some injury cover that is not called Paco.

I think the signing makes sense if they are selling Suarez tbh.

Griezmann and Messi will be great together IMO( in some ways better than Messi and this Suarez), but they need to upgrade that midfield.

That doesn't change regardless.

Griezmann will replace Suarez

Dembele will move to the left

Either that or Barca sell both Dembele and Suarez and sign Marcial or maybe not

But i'm convinced Griezmann's replacing Suarez and will take his position in the starting eleven

He might. When players start declining, their standards usually follow suit.

Suarez might have scored a decent amount of goals this season, but I have watched him several times this season and it's patently obvious he's past his prime.
