Ummm...  this was a normally schedule NT press conference that 2 players always attend.  In this case, it was Griezmann and Nzonzo I believe.  I don't think he felt appropriate to use a NT press conference for his choice.  He won't hold a press conference at all would be my guess.

Lemar just got announced to Atleti and he also may not have wanted to take away from his teammate's thunder by grabbing all the attention to himself.

If he wants to win the cl why the hell will he join Barca? They havent even been past the qf since 2015 whereas atleti have reached the finals once before that once after and a semis as well. Barcelona are a qf team. If he's going there for Laliga fair enough but it's a mickey mouse league and shows weak mentality. Either he goes to Madrid or he comes to EPL to try and win the big boys league.

This article gives a good explanation of why Grizzy has to legally do it the way he's doing it....  he technically cannot say he's "signing" or "committing" to another club until July 1.  His release clause is $200 mil until July 1 and $100 mill thereafter.  So if he made a faux pas live, his whole transfer may fall through as Atleti may legally bring action for the larger amount.  I also think that, within the legal bounds, he wants to explain what he's doing to Atleti fans, hence the staged video.

I knew there had to be something to it.  He's not at all viewed as an ego guy on NT.

@Nick... DD told him he needed to announce before the WC. According to media, he was going to announce it on July 1 otherwise so he didn't breach his contract or create problems with the transfer (he doesn't trust prez of Atleti). Given that he was forced to do it beforehand, and with the input of his lawyers, he prepared a video instead.

We'll see what the video says. But at least the intent is to explain himself a little bit to the Atleti fanbase without creating legal problems due to the July 1 thing.

And what the heck... since circumstances are what they are, might as well have fun with it. Nothing wrong with that.

What I have heard through French medias is that Lemar was a conditional signing for him to extend. And rumour is that they will go grab Sidibe too. Lemar is not even officially signed with Atletico. If Griezmann leaves he will not go

Last summer wasn't a shit show either.  He waited until he heard the ruling on Atleti... which happened late in the summer.  So he decided to stay since Atleti couldn't buy any players due to the sanctions.  He was all set to go to Man U.

That was actually a solid move by him.... lucky too because Mou would have ruined him.

I don't think he really gives a *bleep* what the casual fan may or may not thing.  His concern is his current fanbase and the future one. I know GL just like to shit on everything... and so does French media. But they have been understanding with Grizzy as the circumstances both last summer and this one are clear.
