Who will qualify? (Select two teams)

Goals are entertaining if they go both ways. Tension is most entertaining of all, and Group B had that in spades whereas Group Whatever has none.

You didn't see the tension of when VAR was deciding whether to give Prince Harry his hatrick?
I was on the edge of my seat while eating my Sunday Roast tbh.

At least Iran had some luck go their way: The own goal, the penalty...
Morocco on the other hand? yikes.

I think number 9 Omid Ebrahimi (is that right?) has been Iran's best player in this tournament.
Non-stop running engine in the middle of the park. If anyone is to get a move, it should be him

Kia Joorbachian is busy making money off overhyped Portuguese/South American frauds when he should be helping Iranian football instead and get some of their players some decent moves to European clubs
Or has he?

No offence guys but has nobody learnt from past tournaments or something?
This happens every tournament and then the players in question never get heard from again.

Especially goalkeepers
Remember that Algerian GK who denied Germany for like 2 hours? ....exactly

I agree. It's just being hopeful for an NT like Iran at this point though to get as many players get moves to European clubs.

Re: World Cup (2018) - Group B (Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Iran)
Joorabchian used to represent some Iranian players who played in bundesliga in the past
Not sure what he is up to now re iran players
anyway some of these players have done well enough at club level this past season to earn good moves regardless of WC

Easy to look good in a 3 game stretch where no one has seen you and no one expects anything of you.
There's a reason that, as you correctly pointed out, none of these players are heard from again. Buying based on a couple games during an international tournament would be dumb

Re: World Cup (2018) - Group B (Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Iran)
What happened to Iranian football??? I remember during the mid/late 90s 5-6 Iranian players used to play in Europe (mostly Germany). Does any Iranian players play in any European leagues now???Sina wrote:So proud of our team

Re: World Cup (2018) - Group B (Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Iran)
^Talent development still not any better
very few clubs really invest in youth
so its really cyclic
sometimes more talented Generations like 98 and then from Mid 2000s onwards not much(at least in terms being good enough for top leagues)
2014 squad was older
things looking better now
