Well, Dani was considered top 5 not too long ago so it's not far-fetch. Still though, one of the best endings to a group stage I've seen in some time. Hope for more of the same really.

Carvajal had an off year because of injuries I'd say. Never got into a rhytm. I'd still trust him, but we need a better backup.

Darmian is available at a modest 20m.
Big props to Iran. Honestly liked the look of them and they were competitive. Shame they couldn't make it through.

Re: World Cup (2018) - Group B (Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Iran)
What a finish. Well I’ll agree we won’t win WC the way they have been playing (and I blame it all on the unnecessary change of coach), we should have no problem with Russia. Beyond that, we’ll have to see. I agree Portugal will likely lose to Uruguay. They looked pretty good today.
As to Carvajal, he still is off. Nacho played much better than him in game 1 than Dani has in now 2 games. Isco is our best player. I’m still hoping for that magic interaction between Isco, Iniesta, Silva abs Costa. There have been moments, but nothing extraordinary yet.

I can't decide on Portugal vs Uruguay tbh, Spain will clearly beat Russia though.

hala, you have such bias against other liga teams!
Iniesta may be on the downside, but he does have his moments in every game. The game plan was and should be give him 60 to 70 minutes.

Fernando Hierro. The Spanish FA fired Lopetegui a couple days before the WC started because he took the job of Manager at Real Madrid and the President felt hurt or whatever.

They fired Lopetequi 2 days before tournament because fed president was upset. Instead they put in Hierro who has been an absolute failure at 2nd level futbol!

Wow, yeah I knew about Lope's appointment to Madrid, but why did the federation have to get all bumsore about it

This was easily the most entertaining group of the world cup imo
I think next best would be Colombia's group (and Argentina's too I suppose)

Re: World Cup (2018) - Group B (Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Iran)
Depends on what divide of the argument you're on. Many believe the RFEF were right in firing JLo as he "disrespected" the NT and the association by not "telling them" in advance despite the RFEF would have had knowledge of it before the presser was released. While many others believe the President, Luis Rubiales, just got his pride wounded that he was not "consulted" in the whole deal although no one needs to talk to him about anything (JLo has a release clause in his contract).
Needless to say, no one really looked good in that scenario. Not RFEF, not JLo, not Madrid (sort of) and definitely not the NT since they were the ones that suffered the most. Fun facts: the players actually begged Rubiales to keep JLo but he said no and in the Presidential election, JLo didn't vote for Rubiales.

And he lost the 2 Million payment Madrid / Lopetequi would have had to make. He not only cost us Spanish citizens a WC, but 2M as well!

Goals are entertaining if they go both ways. Tension is most entertaining of all, and Group B had that in spades whereas Group Whatever has none.
