Re: 2017/18 English Football League Carabao Cup and FA Cup thread
Couldn't care less about Pep's on the pitch attitude tbh. Only care about his football.
It was one of those games. City are way too wing-focused. They need to play through the middle better. I would have left Sane on, but it's easy to say that after the fact (Walker making that howler). Good win by Wigan.

@Casciavit
Since you watch enough City games. Do you rate Gundogan?
Every time I watch him I feel like he holds the ball too long and kills off attacks. Just like Aguero does when he puts his head down and tries to shoot from stupid angles. I feel Gundogan outside of scoring goals he doesn't offer much in our current build up play. Just like Aguero doesn't fit the system as well as Jesus does.
Also for every great game he has 2 shitty games right after. Maybe I'm too spoiled by David Silva. As a backup the drop in quality is too obvious and too much for players at this level. Also Silva brings the best out of Sane since he can find him with through ball and quick 1-2s. I prefer B. Silva in the Silva role instead but Pep thinks other wise.

I'm a fan of his, but I don't think he should be starting ahead of Silva and KDB.
However, I feel like you're underselling him a bit lol. He's the only legitimate CM in your squad. So because of that he's more comfortable in deeper spaces than both KDB and Silva.
He's better at turning in tight spaces than De Bruyne, and unlike KDB he's able to slow the game down and add patience like Silva.
However, despite all of that, I agree that he shouldn't be starting ahead of Silva or KDB. Silva links up better with Sane, and is more aggressive at bringing the ball forwards. KDB is a top 3 player in the world right now lol.
But TBH I can see Gundogan becoming better and more influential in the squad. As of now he's playing higher and entering the box more, rather than dictating play. But I think with more playing time and with the return of Mendy, that will allow him to play deeper in the attacking phase and that's where he's best. It's also worth noting he hasn't had much of a consistent run of games in the last few years, so I'm not exactly expecting more from his current form.
So yeah, him being City's 3rd CM is his current level, but I think he brings more to City's game than what you think lol.

Always thought Gundogan is more slow and a deeper play maker, not sure if he has improved or adjusted since under Pep, but hes much more dynamic and all round nowadays which is good. Couldnt be more happy since hes had so much time out due to injury.

Sterling a doubt for the League Cup Final
Feeling nervous since City looked toothless against Wigan a side that parks the bus without him. He has Goat positioning for a winger. Thankfully Arsenal will come at us. At least we'll have a David Silva - Fernandinho - KdB midfield.
Delph suspension will expose us more defensively, hopefully Pep goes with Zinchenko instead of Danilo. At least Zinchenko proves us an greater attacking threat from the LB position while Danilo proves neither.
Everyone else healthy, Jesus is has been training could see him on the bench but I doubt he will be featured. Kompany may start but he looked rusty vs Basel in UCL. Would like Otamendi-Laporte/Stones.
My predication of the
Walker---Otamendi--Laporte--Zinchenko**
-------KdB---------Dinho------Silva-------
Bernardo/Sterling---Aguero------Sane----
**Pep going start Danilo

Mkhi's cup tied.
Sounds like Ramsey is fit for us. Should have Ozil as well. Aubameyang will play. That's it at the moment.

I forgot Kolasinac even existed, is he injured or eternally benched now due to Monreal's form? he was looking good early on too. Better than almost every other PL teams options at LB.
