Re: 2017/18 English Football League Carabao Cup and FA Cup thread
Wenger earlier this morning throwing shade at Spurs and Liverpool
“You celebrate some teams who have not been in a final for 25 years and yet you kill us even though we have won the FA Cup three times in the last four years. We have to live with that.”

he's right too
I guess you have more expectations as a club that have actually won stuff in the last decade though
barring a flukey CL, Loserpool havent been relevant since I was born, Arsenal are a PL great and I don't even know who played for Spurs before the Ginola era tbh

Would like to say that Monreal is our second best player after Ozil.
100% win record since his return from injury.

Re: 2017/18 English Football League Carabao Cup and FA Cup thread
I don't really agree.
What would happen if Man U became perennial fourth place challengers, to eventually falling out of the top four, followed by their best players leaving, while putting out worse teams year after year? Without looking like they were headed for an upswing? Oh, but they won the FA cup a couple times within a couple years...
You think the media wouldn't be destroying them? What about City or Chelsea doing the same thing?
These teams have all had their dips, sure, but they've come back. Meanwhile Arsenal are slowly degrading into mediocrity in the league and CL (and have been doing for more than a decade now). The only redeeming quality is their FA cup wins. And sure, that should be celebrated, but FA Cups simply aren't as valued as they used to be. It's still a valuable cup competition that means something to fans, and Wenger should absolutely be celebrated for his success in the competition over the years, but within the larger context of the last 13 years or so, it looks a bit like a consolation prize.
Meanwhile their forever inferior neighbors look more impressive, look more optimistic, and look like they have a brighter future, after being in the realm of mediocrity and irrelevancy forever (whether that image will translate into a reality is yet to be seen). Of course the media is light on them in comparison, the media is used to them finishing 5th or 6th every year. A historic yeartypically is one where they finish fourth...
People have high expectations for Arsenal that they don't for Spurs (and Pool, I guess, I found the comment directed mostly at Spurs tbh). Arsene should deserve credit for setting those high expectations but also needs to accept the criticism that comes with not maintaining that standard. I don't think an FA cup every other year cuts it anymore as "high expectations".
Point out any Arsenal fans to me that say "an FA cup and the season is set". This victim mentality looks honestly a bit pathetic from Wenger imo.
Wenger is absolutely correct in a vacuum where you judge Spurs, Pool, and Arsenal without the expectations placed on them. That's not the reality of the world though.

Can't tell what I want more, to see Arsenal win so at the end of the season Wenger can say "but muh caraboo cup", or to see City win
