European U21 - Poland 2017

The european U21 is starting next week. A lot of interesting players and it seems that most (if not all) teams have brought pretty much their best squads.

I don't know enough about others, but at least Spain and Italy seem very good. Apparently england as well.

England's squad is pretty ordinary unfortunately. Those nobody in there who I'd call an outstanding talent, and a lot of the players were involved in the last two failures. Guys like Chalobah, Hughes, Ward-Prowse and Redmond have been around forever. The only real positive is that a lot of these players there were involved in the Toulon Tournament win last summer.

Spain are seriously stacked. They should be running away with this competition. Their team could be:


Which has players playing regularly for Arsenal, Benfica, Atletico, Barcelona and Real Madrid ffs. Then they've still got Oyarzabal, Soler, Ceballos, Sandro...

Germany's squad is also pretty meh. Don't expect them to go far.

Italy's squad is stacked as well, best U21 team in years. A problem that I see is that 5 of the key players are actually with the senior team right now. They will join with the rest only a few days before the start of the competition so things might not click at first. Maybe a slow start is due. Plus Rugani's injury, don't know if he recovered.

Unfortunately Napoli didnt let Zieliński and Milik go and they won't play in this tournament

Linetty is there right? should be good.

Milik should have never been called, he needs the rest and proper preseason after such a terrible injury. Its a shame they didn't let Zielinski go.

Yeah theres a couple of good players I will keep an eye on like Linetty, Kędziora, Bednarek, Kownacki, Kapustka, Stępiński, Drągowski. But to be honest anyone can shine, I dont even know half the players who were called up in Poland so I'm not sure what I will see tonight lol

Anyway, Linetty has improved so much in SerieA, I was really suprised when I've seen him play in the qualifier against Romania the other day, he looks like a different player, the progress he made is unbelievable. He played for my hometown team so I'm glad hes doing so well

It's a shame Zieliński won't be there, probably the most technically gifted player in the senior NT right now and has made fantastic progress aswell in Napoli. Italy has been great for our boys lately

Linetty signed for the perfect team. Marco Giampaolo is doing a great job with the youngsters at Samp. They have the right balance between experience and talent. Its a positive environment.

Zielinski is the man though, one of the more entertaining youngsters in Serie A to watch.

We look awful, as expected. Completely incapable of playing through midfield and too reliant on wing play.

So, Spain U21 up 3-0 and Macedonia actually have been playing the better football really. Deulofeu is not having a good half, while the rest of the Spanish midfielders just doing enough to get by. Except Asesnio, he is definitely a class above everyone.

Asensio has been awesome. Saul hasn't been that bad either. But Suarez, Deulofeo and Bellerin have all had a terrible half. Hope Inaki comes in for Deulofeu

Deulofeu has no football intelligence whatsoever. speed, speed, speed and nothing else.

Right, Asensio is probably gonna be player of the tournament if Spain reaches at least semis. Really just a damn good footballer. On the flip side, Deulofeu needs to improve his performance. Not sure how but it is really lacking at the moment.

Yeah it's pretty frustrating to watch him play.

Asensio on the other hand is the best player to grace the field in this tournament so far.

Spain-Portugal will be decisive I think.
