Haven't been a fan of RTS since WC3 but you do you.

Re: General Games Discussion
So after finally getting time to sit down and actually play a PS4 Pro I was excited to use since time was barely an option, I finally began Witcher 3.
In short. Its hard getting into it given you need exposition imo for the lore and history but thankfully they treat Geralt as a nomad more than one of linear purpose so one article provides great exposition and has me not regret playing Witcher 1 which doesnt catch my interest, but I do wish I played part 2, given it genuinely did look a great game.
TW3 starts off slow and plus Im only playing once a week but so far its a very satisfying experience. I was there was a slightly greater degree of depth to the combat as Souls series has spoilt me for more strategic and realistic pace instead of the slighly arcadey one that TW3 possesses but a lot of my standards derive from there. Though the combat IS fun and rewarding with the depth in crafting, brewing etc. I do wish there was more polish on animations in other degrees and certain parts of AI, along with just a more grounded realistic feel to the animations but thats all the qualms I possess.
Geralt is easily one of my favourite characters so far in gaming as the depth, presence and whats behind him is fascinating as he's the closest thing to Snake I've seen in gaming or characters in general. Uncanny similarity. Lore and story is well written as I absolutely love the Slavic background to it and the attention to detail. Graphically I probably cannot find a better game and while the Music is misplaced at times, it is absolutely fantastic and that part is very important to me.
The game suffers from erratic moments in its polish (not Polish) and Im early in the game so far but its far more subtle than I thought and after playing GTA V enhanced version it lives up to the attention to detail to which I find the most important facet in any game.
Despite my complaints its actually BETTER then I expected and I can see why it won GOTY. Nothing beats a slow trod horse ride in scenery unwitnessed in a game as moments like that capture this game far more then the more obvious moments. Thankfully I got the complete edition so curious to see how the expansions add up when Im done the game.

Re: General Games Discussion
You are 100% right about the animations in regards to Geralt himself and enemies. It isn't something that ever bothered me because of how varied some of the builds are with bombs, potions, oils, decoctions, signs etc etc.
But it's undeniable that it doesn't move as smoothly as it could and the enemies don't have enough varied attacks ( this is something which is massively improved for the expansions though)
The animations or lack of in some cases and a certain story related thing which i won't mention are the only very tiny gripes i have and they never really effected my overall experience.
Also it does start very slowly, something i didn't notice until my 2nd playthrough as i was completely engrossed the first time. It's why i have said on here ( most disagree) that i think Velen is weaker than latter parts of the game.
But that slow pacing is vital for the overall pacing of the game, if it started any faster the overall experience would feel disjointed IMO.
Honestly TW3 is the best game to get into the series as weird as that sounds, because it revolves around characters who are massively vital to the books and don't have much impact in the first two games.
Also interesting you find it graphically better than GTA, when we spoke about it before i was very hesitant because i'm not really sure i mean it's close either way but it wasn't obvious to my eye to say clearly.
Interested to read your thoughts as you progress.

God that brought back memories. I remember those days of emulating PS1 and PS2 with Connetix and PCSX2 respectively, they were really good emulators for their time, but due to the huge difference in CPU architecture between PS3 and PCs, you'd need a hell lot more horsepower to run PS3 games. I can see that becoming viable in a few years' time but not now. And as you can see the PS3 games you can emulate on PC are all shit games at the moment, no AAA RDRs or God of Wars. Not yet.

Re: General Games Discussion
When Activision launched the first Destiny back in 2014, they made some pretty big promises. The problem was when the game came out, it wasn't what a lot of us were actually expecting - particularly in the story department. But don't you worry, though, because this time Bungie say that Destiny 2 will have
- TOO MUCH story -
That last part is so cringy
