how come you never played The Last Guardian smh

been out for 7 months at this point

nobody else even finished it besides me, I did say it wasn't for everyone though

seems like a game you either don't click with but for those it does it ends up in their top 5 this gen

was super cheap months ago so no excuse not to get it at this point

I do think it will be on PS+ in a year or so though

Having a blast with Tekken 7 so far. The story mode is as good as it can be in a fighting game, tying up and making some sense of the franchise's plot regarding the Mishimas. Really nicely done for anyone who has played these games over the year.

The online is great, no lag so far in 50 matches or so. Just 2 or 3 disconnects.

The mechanics and gameplay feel very tight and fluid. Everything works very well, a bit expected since the console release comes after two versions and 3 years of japanese arcade releases.

The new characters are hit and miss. Whoever the *bleep* came up with Lucky Chloe needs to be fired. Claudio looks weird but he fits nicely and plays well. Kazumi is GOAT. Overall the roster is well worked and feels like it has no filler characters, except for having both Kuma and Panda on separate slots.

The new default customs for some characters are too over the top for me but you can choose from alternate ones and buy (with tekken, fake, money) the ones from old games which is really nice. Otherwise the customization is the weak point of the game compared to 5 or 6.

Also nice is that you can unlock all the cinematics of the whole series for every character as well the soundtracks.

9/10 so far from me.

Have you completely given up on Yakuza? There's also Nier: Automata, which is one of those games you'll either hate or love. Regardless, I'm sure you'll be playing OW at this time, next year

Nope. I had the original game, and I didn't really enjoy it that much. Felt like a chore to complete it. I think Rincon said he was a fan, though. I'll probably get that Wolfenstein game. No one else here seemed very hyped about it, but I think it looked great. Heard good things about the last Wolfenstein game, but I never played it myself.

Battlefront is the only thing I'm interested in from that list at the moment. That Yakuza game looks interesting though. Will wait for reviews for all of them anyways.

Also have to play Uncharted 4 at some point.

I think i like Persona 4 more for some reason, character wise, but combat 5 feels better imo, the characters were somewhat similar to 4 as well Yusuke=Ryuji, Chie=Ann etc. both very fine games, just down to personal preference. Its a damn shame we get these games every decade, but the jump in formula from 3 to 4 was what saved this series, i wouldn't be opposed to another shift in direction, the narrative path was somewhat similar to 4. Now let Persona 5 arena, P5 dancing, P5 mobile etc spoil the fanbase until 6.

Think this, i'm struggling to label the series as a genre, is the best evolution of JRPG. Mid 2000s was a chrysalsis phase, especially with powerhouses like XII and KH deviating from traditional JRPG games.

I think Squeenix would kill to be in Persona's position, its such an antithesis, really, Final Fantsy starting to become super serious with cars, technology, political matters etc while Persona moved from that. Sometimes you don't really need a super realistic setting with a convoluted story about Falcie and Lcie with more human graphics than anime and a protagonist that doesnt change her facial the whole game. It might seem rantiah but i love squeenix, i really want them to see them do their best, but it grinds my gears, it hurts seeing a series i love devolve.

Anyways, now onto Prey for me, then finish Horizon, then maybe The Last Guardian depending if i am motivated enough to get up and pop the disc in

Yeah I'm getting it. This and the Crash remake are my next games. My PS4 library will be looking like its PS1 Crash, Tekken, Final Fantasy

I love this game (FF12). The last real masterpiece in FF for me. By gameplay its for sure the best in the series in the series.

It just had a lot of aspects that were VERY different from old (and future) entries. So fans were split (they always are) but critics praised it. It was made by a team that usually does a spinoff subset of FF games set in the same universe (Ivalice). Ivalice is old school fantasy (weird races, knights and such) and then the entries in the more future timeline, like this one, have a starwars-type blend into the fantasy. I loved the setting and the world, which is the biggest in FF.

The two aspects that mostly divided the people are the combat and the type of story.

For the story, it is much less focused on character drama and much more focused on world-scale events and kingdoms and stuff. Pretty much the exact opposite to the narrative style of FFXV or XIII. Its not as compelling as other more personal stories.

The combat changed from turn based, scrapped random encounters and did something new. You approach enemies on the open field and fight with Gambits. The Gambit system was beautiful for me. You can set actions made automatically by the party members when certain conditions are met, giving fine control over your party members without having to micromanage everyone in battle. I loved it, you can get deep into the tactics, but some people didn't get into it at all.

The world is absolutely massive, the job system (new in this version) is awesome, the loot/bazaar system is the best, the hunt system is also better than any in FF, the boss fights are amazing, etc. Its a VERY long game with tons of content, and details, that really feels epic.

I'm hyped.

not really in the mood for a 60+ hour RPG again atm so I'll save the FF games for a rainy day

In other words according to them Spiderman is coming in the first half of the year.
