Shouldn't sign these players who have already earned a ton of money, won trophies and are getting on a bit. Always a good chance their motivation to train their hardest isn't necessarily there and they fall off that peak level. Now we'll be paying him star player salary until 2024 without getting star player performances.

This pace of the league thing is total nonsense.

PL is more intense no doubt but nothing that a top-level player cannot handle let alone the best midfielder in the world in Thiago.

He will perform well this season.

My problem with him is that he tends to be passive at times and not to bothered when we need the midfield in control but no reason he wont come up with performances given he is not exactly old nor is his role physically demanding.

He's got a long term issue with his glute that is outside the tough time he had adapting during the start of the league with Covid and the 3 month spell out due to Everton being Everton, he certainly helped the injury rigged eleven to 3rd place with what 10 unbeaten, our best midfield is undoubtedly Hendo, Fab and Thiago and I dont think they've even started a game together since Thiago signed. Funny how Liverpool fans seem to have forgotten the end of last season.

Reactionary hot takes because Liverpool began losing when they barely lost in the two prior years and he was the big addition that summer.

It was his first season and he was playing as a #6 in front of Fabinho and Henderson or Nate Phillps. Injuries probably ruined his rhythm settling into a new team too. Glad he's changing the sentiment around his performances.

Which months though , he barely played for the first 6 months through Covid and injury and then was core to us finishing 3rd with a Nat Phillips Rhys Williams CB pairing.

I still don't understand this. They would clearly benefit from a few squad upgrades and some more depth, they've been relatively conservative in that regard since they won the CL 3 or so years ago. But when were they ever over the hill? 2nd place in the league, 3 points behind City. Despite their issues with Covid, NT breaks and whatnot, the over the hill description always seemed quite hysterical to me.

I recall someone mentioning that a lack of motivation would supposedly be their big issue after winning the Champions League once, but they're still competing for everything, Salah is regarded as perhaps the best player in the world right now, and unlike some of their rivaling teams, I don't think it would take a substantial squad overhaul to make them dominant again.

Hans and I were wrong on that... They did experience a bit of a lull last season, but they're back to some of their best football this season.
