Unreal feud

This lad already makes tons through youtube money and he's recently been signed by that Bombee betting app. These "fans" aint going away any time soon.

I like Robbie, he's well spoken and is quite articulate, unlike many of his interviewees. If he's making money then it's by his own merit, you say 'these fans aren't going away' like its a stain but thats just we need in this world era, in a time where billionaires and hedge funds view clubs as play things (see Valencia) we need more outspoken fans, we need a voice for the voiceless, we need a cult of personality. The amount of appeal his show has garnered even managed to end up with Gazidis noticing him and acknowledging. I only wish there was a similar fan platform for my club.

Anyways, i can't wait to see Gary appear on his show. He raises a good point on Sky pundits (and pundits in general) its always great to hear a fan's perspective when it comes to games, even thought it might be a skewed perception. Thats one thing i don't like about punditry, its like 'here's your opinion, take it'. Having a variety of perspectives is always nice, no matter how skewed/distorted it might be, after all, this is why we have this forum, this is why we all post here, everyone wants to here what everyone thinks, otherwise we're just lifeless husks

What I like about these fan channels is that they not only give these fans who go week-in-week out a place to voice their thoughts (whether you agree with them or not) but also for other fans who can't come to the stadiums-- a feel of belonging. You see these videos of Robbie just travelling to Munich and their excitement/anxiety before a game, then just videos of big goals scored from the POV of a fan in a stadium and all the post-match nonsense. Sky and BT can never give you this... a fan's perspective.

On the Gary Neville debate, I don't think he was talking about Arsenal Fan TV as a channel, more about the people who are calling Arsene Wenger names and abusing the shit out of him.

I hope we will get to see Gary on Arsenal Fan TV soon and not just with Robbie! I want all the bluds and fams: Ty, Claude, Troopz, DT Laughing

MPs have given the FA a vote of no confidence over their ability to reform.

Which is the most ironic thing I've read today. Could be significant if it leads to intervention in how the FA is run.

Wouldn't that violate FIFA's no government action statutes? And what exactly needs to be reformed? it's the most lucrative league in the world

Ranieri's Dream Premier League '16-'17 Discussion - Part 11 - Page 18 Empty Re: Ranieri's Dream Premier League '16-'17 Discussion - Part 11

The committee has published two reports since 2010 recommending greater representation at the FA for fans and the grassroots game, as well as more diversity in positions of authority. It also wants to dilute the perceived dominance of the Premier League.

Collins has said the FA was given six months to meet the government guidance on best practice for sports governance but had failed to do so. That guidance called for things such as a move towards gender equality on boards, more independent oversight, more accountability and term limits for office bearers.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38920489

And some further reading:

The crises in governance at some global sports bodies, including football's world governing body Fifa, prompted a rethink over how organisations which receive government funding should operate.

Last year, grassroots funding body Sport England set out required standards for transparency, accountability and financial integrity from those organisations which ask for government and National Lottery funding. The Code for Sports Governance will come into force in April.

It demands, for example, 30% gender diversity on boards, greater transparency and term limits.

The FA is due to meet the Government in the spring to show its plans for achieving the required standards.

But MPs on the Culture, Media and Sport (CMS) Select Committee have run out of patience and are exerting pressure on the FA to ensure it goes through with modernisation. Thursday's backbench debate is another method to do just that.

The committee has previously published two reports which set out how its MPs think:

The Premier League is dominant within English football and should have its influence diluted
The FA's decision-making capabilities should change
There should be greater representation for fans and the grassroots game

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38907978

Basically there's pressure on the FA to modernise but they haven't done so despite promising to. The government have threatened to withdraw public funding (worth up to £40mil) if they don't.

It's a long running thing, though.

He actually said this? Damn, that's bad.

That's the exact opposite of what the fans want to hear atm, and regardless, it's completely different context. Spurs are second in Feb and are playing well, and have a young team, a competent manager and look to be on the up (despite this, Poch still abjectly failed in the CL, which is highly disappointing), with a new stadium on the way. This is way more than Spurs fans ever get, and they're right to be happy and right to be behind the manager.

Wenger is just a continual disappointment year after year at this point except for reaching the R16 of the CL and FA cup victories. They have the financial backing, the squad and the ability to do better. They're not though and so Arsenal fans should be upset even if they are, say, equal to Spurs on points. That's not even the case though, they're 3 points behind Spurs right now.
